In May 2012 I installed this product on top of two pergolas near our pool. The pergolas are in direct Texas sunlight. The sun screening is perfect, allowing enough light penetration yet providing shade. On May 10, 2016, a severe storm loosen the staples which attach the sunscreen to the pergola roof deck. When I reattached the sunscreen I was very pleased to discover that there were no tears or other storm damage. Additionally, there was no apparent degradation of the sunscreen material. Other than some slight discoloration it was in the same condition as the day it was installed, 4 years ago. I would most definitely recommend this product.

Have a room with lots of windows. The sun makes it like an oven. This helped reduced the temperature several degrees.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OntWintrTxn Vertical Blinds from SunTex 80!
We liked the idea of blinds from solar screen but not the price of custom blinds. Vertical blind vanes were made cutting the SunTex 80 into 3 1/2" wide by 60" long strips, hemming the top 1" and the bottom 2". The bottoms were weighted slightly and stiffened by using two pieces of wide craft sticks cut to 3" long that were slid in place while hemming the bottom. No hole was made at the top, the blind vanes just slid into the vertical blind clip and stay in place. A labor intensive project but we love the end result. Combined with Bali vertical blind rails also purchased from Home Depot and cut on site to our specifications, we are extremely pleased with the products and the customer service from both Home Depot and Bali Blinds.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GazeboLover Awesome! I love it!
I purchased 50 feet last fall and just got around to my weekend warrior project two weeks ago.
The shade fabric is awesome. I can see through it just enough to see the sun, clouds and everything, but it still provides perfect shading. You can kinda see it in the close-up pic, you can see the back of my house through the screen. Its a very nice weight too! It handles the wind nicely.
I was concerned about how big the holes would be, but it's just right. We get a lot of afternoon sun and could not enjoy our patio till now.
My project shown:
I purchased a gazebo a few years ago. A tornado ripped it up. I saved the four corners hoping to salvage it someday. 2 years ago, i put the pavers together to wrap around the bottom of the frame, poured concrete in it and let it dry. We get 2-3 tornadoes a year and it hasn't budged.
I finally found the right fabric for the top. A few weekends ago we designed and built the frame and added the fabric. Its strong enough to handle the wind and me yanking it around when the wind blows it and causes a fold at the top; and it glides nicely along the beams when I adjust the shade up and down along the front to block more sun by those two chairs.
Perfect! Love my home made gazebo!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JohnK SunTex 80 Shading Fabric
This is a great product. I recently added two pergolas to the pool area in my back yard. However, I found that they did not block enough direct overhead sunlight to keep the area under the pergolas cool enough. I ordered 4 rolls of SunTex 80, rolled it onto the top deck of the pergolas, cut it to size, and simply stapled it to the cedar top strips. It is a perfect solution to the problem. It provides mottled shade for the plants under the pergolas even at high noon while allowing enough light to penetrate to make the area pleasantly well lit. The shade obviously reduces the temperature making the area much more comfortable. I would definitely recommend this product.

You have to frame this screen fabric yourself (not a problem for me). If you do this yourself, remember this....measure twice cut once. Cost per square foot isn't cheap, but wourth every penny. Same applies for the screen frame purchased seperately. Take your time and the results will look like a pro did it for you.
Only drawback is that it greatly restricts air flow when you have that screened window opened. Something to consider if the room only has 1 window.
Absolutely love the (light brown/tan) color .....
Very effective screen for my situation. I replace them in the winter when my local UV is low and I use the heat effect of the sun. Store your replaced screens until winter.

I purchased this screen to build a solar screen for two bedroom windows to cut down the solar reflection that was burning my artificial grass. The sun was reflecting off of my windows and on to my artificial grass and melting it. I purchased two screen kits and this screen. It stopped the glare completely and protected the grass. I selected the 80% over the 90% since it was just as effective and did not significantly alter my view from the inside of the house looking outside. It also cooled the inside rooms of the house about 15 degrees.

My northwest facing family room has two full walls of windows which catch full evening sun. During the summer the temperature in this room can reach well over 100. Closing the drapes doesn't help reduce the heat and has the added disadvantage of limiting air flow. I discovered the Suntex 80 shading fabric while visiting my daughter in Phoenix, AZ where it is widely used and thought I would give it a try in my family room. The results were dramatic! Most of the suns rays are deflected resulting in minimal temperature increase in the room, air flow is maintained and outword visibility is only slightly reduced while inward daytime visibility is greatly reduced resulting in increased privacy. An affordable solution.
