This Metal Halide HID Light bulb is almost as bright as the Metal Halide Bulb that came with my Cooper Lighting GT100MH 100W Metal Halide Industrial Grade Security Dusk to Dawn Area Light. It's the only bulb that I have found that come close to the Cooper Lighting GT100MH 100W Metal Halide Industrial Grade Security Dusk to Dawn Area Light Bulb. The Philips 100W clear BD17 medium base M90/E is just as bright white Hue and very close to the same brightness. Even though both are 4000K rating. I am very please with the Philips 100W Metal Halide Pulse Start Bulb. Hope Home Depot continues to carry this same Metal Halide 100W Bulb. Would recommend to anyone who wants a very white bright replacement bulb.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clark A recommended Metal Halide 100W Bulb
In response to Metal Halide Bulb fit by other reviewers. I have already made another review about this Bulb which was a great rating for the bright white light. I have a Cooper Lighting GT100MH 100W Metal Halide Industrial Grade Security Dusk to Dawn Area Light that uses a E17 M90 Bulb base. But bought this Philips 100-Watt Metal Halide HID Light Bulb and the bottom bulb base is very wide but fits my Cooper Industrial Grade Metal Halide base fine. I have even bought one from Amazon with a different globe wide base which also fit fine. I sent it back because the 4000k hue 100W was a little on the yellowish side. This Philips Model # 406033 Internet # 100671182 Store SKU # 247648 100-Watt Metal Halide HID Light Bulb fits the base just fine and the bulb light is almost the same bright white hue as the original bulb that came with the Cooper Lighting GT100MH 100W Metal Halide Industrial Grade Security Dusk to Dawn Area Light. So I am well please with this purchase and is the only one I could find to be close to the original bulb.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jason If it didn't fit, it's not the right bulb for your fixture
I'm posting this review in response to the previous reviews I saw that mentioned the bulb didn't fit. I'd like to point out that this bulb has a BD-17 base, which means the glass is supposed to taper out slightly at the base. It's not a manufacturing defect, it's by design.
In the cases where folks couldn't get this bulb to fit, that almost certainly means thier fixtures have a ED-17 (exclusionary) socket. The BD-17 base lamps are designed specifically to not fit in ED-17 sockets. The manufacturers do this sort of thing to protect people from themselves. For example, some metal halide lamps can operate vertically or horizontally but not both. Some are designed for enclosed fixtures only, some can't be used in fully enclosed fixtures. Not all MH lamps will work with all MH ballasts. If you match your ballast and fixture specs to your lamp specs, it will fit. If it doesn't fit, it's not the right lamp.
You need to check the ANSI code, voltage, and wattage to make sure your lamp and ballast match. You need to check the base number and globe type to make sure your lamp will physically fit in your fixture.
There's a visual explanation here:

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jake Life time rating
Lifetime rating is far from accurate, they claim 13.6 years at 3 hours a day, I have installed a few of these bulbs which are on 6 hours a day and only lasted 2 years. A far cry from 6+ years they should have lasted. If I did not need to replace them now, I would investigated changing the fixture and bulb to LEDs.. .PS: Phillips is a good company just unhappy with the life span especially when they are installed in ideal locations, in a soffit outside with plenty of ventilation, plus they are on for 6 hours and off for 18 hours so there is no cycling. These bulbs are not cheap and there is no bulk discount.

A little pricey here but beats a special trip to the electrical supplier. Performs as expected.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Harry A dud of a Light bulb
I purchased a 100W Metal Halide Area Light on September 22, 2015 as a security light that I had installed over the outside of my garage on September 29, 2015. Well the light was working find until November 11, 2015 when it stopped working. Now I am having to purchase a replacement. The time in use equates to about 230 hours, when the light bulb is advertised to last 15000 hours.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jason Didn't fit
I bought this bulb to go into my large outdoor light. It appeared identical to the one I removed, however when I tried to screw the new one in it didn't fit. The glass flared out where the glass meets the metal threads, preventing me from screwing it in. The sales associate said that it is a new design and they don't make the ones that do not flare out anymore. I ended up returning it and buying a regular 100watt LED light, and it works great. So beware if you are replacing an old bulb, the old style doesn't exist anymore. Go LED and don't look back..

As others said, the glass at the base of the bulb widens too much to fit in a standard metal halide fixture. I brought my burnt out bulb and was fooled into thinking this was a match, but looking closer at the bulb you can see there is a small difference in diameter that prevents this base from screwing into the socket. Annoying! I thought these things were kept to some type of standard???
