It was the wrong bulb, but I can use it. It is difficult to get it into the lamp but it does work. It's a nice soft and bright light.

The replacement bulbs I previously purchased in-store for $4.97, came in a green and white single bulb package with the Phillips logo on it, and it produced a "white" flourescent light, like the original. I bought two of the "soft-white" bulbs, and they both lasted for over a year, on every night with a light sensor base. This bulb I ordered on-line, ($2.47) came in a plain box with no logo but it produces a yellow light, (cool-white) like an incandescent bulb, compared to the distinct "white" light of the original. I ordered two of them, and one of them flickered for 20 minutes, without ever coming on. My guess it the cheaper bulb is a generic version. I recommend buying the more expensive one, in the Phillips packaging, if you are looking for flourescent-type light and one that works...
