I have a halogen lamp, it says, use only type " J " lamps, which don't seem to exist. The lamp is 5 inches long, with two ends., this looks just like all Halogen Lamps, called " T " lamps. ? So much for instructions. Says R7s Phillips, made in china on it.

The wiring in a lower wattage lamp will cook and short out and can cause a fire due to the high heat produced. Remember to handle a new bulb with a cloth or paper towel and not bare skin. The oil from skin shortens the life of the bulb and its brightness. Read Less

Answer:
"J" type is the long skinny type that are different size lengths. if its a halogen you are good.
just match the size, fitting at end and voltage. all are written on the package and your lamp should have information on there for the max voltage.

150-Watt Halogen T3 Double-Ended Light Bulb (2-Pack) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality filament Purchased several packages over the past few months to relamp four exterior spotlights... two lamps motion controlled, two lamps on a dusk-dawn timer. These lamps appear to be of high-quality construction, but despite handling these with kid gloves, there have been way too many early failures- one broken filament in package (returned to HD), and several burned out within a week of installation. These fixtures have been in use for many years, and I have never had this high of a failure rate. Supply voltage is verified at 120 volts, and previous brands of 130V-rated lamps have given the expected years of service.

However one would expect a lot of light from a 150 watt globe. It's not particularly effective. The worst part is that you have to buy two. Halogen lights are not that common, so it may be a long time befor you need a second bulb and it will go to waste.

Brought these recently thinking that we would have a spare light for the future and neither light worked. Power was turned off before putting light in place, the light was in no way touched bare handed. The light bulb was handled with a tissue. Would not recommend these lights.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 150 Watt halogen bulbs The price is reasonable in the two pack. But I will make everyone aware of this fact ::: the first three packs had defective and broken filaments. CHECK YOUR PURCHASE CAREFULLY.
