Product Overview

The Philips InstantFit 2 ft. T8 U-shaped linear LED light bulb is the easiest way to replace linear fluorescent light bulbs with an LED solution. This Instant Fit design requires an instant start ballast, with no modifications or rewiring needed to the existing fixture. Using only 16.5 Watt of energy, this is a 55% savings compared to a 32-Watt linear fluorescent bulb. They are ideal for use in general lighting applications where fluorescent lighting is used, and are perfect for applications with frequent “on/off” switching cycles like laundry rooms, kitchens, garages, as well as commercial use in offices and hospitals. Unlike fluorescent bulbs, Philips InstantFit linear T8 LED light bulbs offer a safe and sustainable solution with durable glass-free design, while operating well in cold temperatures and without containing any mercury.

Customer Questions & Answers

can these be used without ballast?

I see no reason to keep the ballast when making this conversion.
Asked by: nicky
I understood that the ballast stayed in and I installed the bulbs right into the fixtures doing nothing else. They worked great that way. By the way be careful because some bulbs you do take out the ballast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just snap in, replacing T8 fluorescents. In my case I... Just snap in, replacing T8 fluorescents. In my case I needed to swap out magnetic ballast to electronic ballast. Tube gives more light, larger illumination swath and more pleasant shade (seems warmer than T12 fluorescent 3500K tubes) in same room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crazy good, and just the right color I normally use the Philips Alto 741 bulbs for all of my fluorescent needs but wanted to start moving to LEDs. These are the perfect replacements. No ballasts to change, just pop them in and they work...and the color is perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Phillips Instafit U-Bent T8 LED replacement Bulbs I am (slowly) converting my house over to LEDs. I like these bulbs, as they are directly compatible with my current lighting fixtures. I now have three blazing suns in the area they were installed; and hopefully they will last many years (unlike the fluorescents they replaced, which needed changed every 2 years or so) Pros: * Fit existing fixtures with electronic ballasts (Most LED bulbs of this type require a rewiring to remove the ballasts, and also replace the "tombstones") * (Allegedly) long life * Ease of installation * Bright - I have some nice "suns" in my basement, now) * About half the power use of the replaced fluorescent bulbs Cons: * Energy efficiency penalty for compatibility with existing fixtures (about 10-15%, I think) * Price penalty for fixture compatibility (also ~10-15% premium) Biggest Con: Only available in a 10-pack. I only needed 6. I guess I have 4 spares whenever one decides to die. Hopefully, I'll lose them (or sell/give them away) long before that's needed. *

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 100% satisfied, can't beat that. The bulbs were packed very well and arrived in a decent time delivered to our door. I was very impressed with how they were packed. We had been using regular flohrescent bulbs and we have the most fantastic light now that you could believe.
