We have several under cabinet task lights that use this style bulb in our kitchen. The halogen bulbs are expensive ($4) and tend to burn out quickly. I thought I'd try this more expensive LED lights to cut energy costs and last a lot longer. These lights fit into the fixture and give off enough light, but have an annoying flicker or strobe effect for several minutes before warming up. Since we turn these lights on and off several times each day, the combined flicker was almost headache inducing. Reverting to finding a less expensive supply of the traditional halogen bulbs until the LED variety resolves the flicker issue.

I used these to replace the 20w halogens in the low voltage puck lights I bought 8 years ago. The halogen lights came with a 12V AC transformer and it works perfectly with these LEDs. The LEDs are indeed just as bright as the 20w halogens and match the color (2700K) as well. In order to make these fit the puck fixtures I had to 1) remove the metal reflector from the fixture (3 screws), 2) glue the socket into the fixture (was held in by the reflector) and 3) remove the glass from the bezel (for better cooling – longer life). I have installed 3 so far and will buy more when the price comes down a bit more.

I bought 8 of these LED G4 lamps to replace 20 watt halogen bulbs under my kitchen cabinets. They work great! They look just like the halogens without the heat (that melted the top of more than one appliance). At just 3 watts each, I feel like I can leave these on all the time. If they live 13 years as advertised, they will have well paid for themselves in energy savings and maybe prevented a fire or another melted blender top. The only drawback is that they are larger than the halogen bulbs so I had to modify my puck light holders. Worth the effort! My wife loves these!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ozarker Good replacement for much higher wattage under-cabinet bulbs
I replace two of six under cabinet 20W halogen bulbs with two 3W LED bulbs. The old bulbs made the cabinet surface directly above the fixture hot after prolonged use while these bulbs, using only 15% the energy, operate quite a bit cooler. You could burn your finger touching the old bulb's glass cover but these are just warm to the touch. Only disadvantages are that they are quite costly at present and I had to remove the reflector from the fixture for the LED replacement to have enough space to be inserted. But no reflector is needed as the LED design in directional downward while the halogens were omen-directional and required a reflector. The light quality is very good and bright. We'll use the lights more often now since they don't run hot and use so much power.

I used these to replace 10w halogen bulbs in under-cabinet lighting. The amount of light put out is equivalent to the 20w bulbs (which I knew by the packaging). These do not produce much heat when they run - which is one thing I noticed immediately. When used in a kitchen, 20w halo bulbs produce a significant amount of heat under a cabinet (which is enough to melt chocolate). There is no problem with these.
The shape of the bulb could be a problem with your under cabinet lights, but they fit easily (glass, reflector and all) into the cheap set I bought from the "german store that sells cheap furniture and household goods in a large chain store" a few years back (I'll give you a hint, it rhymes with "I be uh").

I replaced 1 20 watt halogen puck type undercounter light with this product to observe how it compared to the remaining 5 lights. I did have to remove the reflector and leave off the glass lens as these bulbs are larger than a 20w halogen bulb. That being said 1 week later I replaced the remaining 5 halo's with the Philips LED's. I then replaced a desklamp 50 watt halogen bulb with one of the AccentLED bulbs. No obtrusive heat as with any halogen bulb and the electrical consumption is ridiculously low (6X20 watts vs 6X3 watts) At last, thanks Philips for a nice product! Can you do more?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Treehugger Works well in off the grid system.
Tried a couple of these in a solar-charged 12 volt system at a camp with no A/C power. Beam angle is wide, making them useful in small bedrooms, over tables, etc. and the color is pleasant - comes across as a bit on the yellow side but very acceptable and much nicer than older more bluish LEDs. They are a very nice alternative to propane lighting in the summer, and have very little heat output which is a huge plus on hot nights. My brother retrofitted an older pedestal style 12 volt LED lamp - this product has a much higher output and a more pleasant color. I realize this is an atypical use, but they are working so well I have purchased several more to add to the system. It would be nice to see more products aimed at 12 volt off the grid lighting needs.

bulbs are larger than standard g4. I had to remove reflector to get the bulb to fit. Lumen output is less than halogen 20w but adequate. A 4w bulb would have been better.
