Answer:
Not in all cases. Some lava lamps mount the bulb sideways and the reflector would inhibit the light from reaching the lamp. Use a 25 watt round clear glass bulb.

Answer:
Hello, Incandescent R20 bulbs are often used for lava lamps and glitter lamps. The Incandescent R20 bulb will not be affected by current legislation. If you are able to provide more information regarding your lava lamp, the Philips Lighting team can help you determine whether this specific bulb can be used for your exact fixture.

The IKEA lamp fixture I have requires: E17 4W 100-245V Warm White LED Spotlight Lamp bulb

Just need to know if the Philips incandescent R14 mini reflector bulb will be ok to use. The IKEA lamp has a warning not to use anything over 25 watt, and it recommends an LED E17 R14 150 Lumens but the bulb is on order and may take several weeks, so I'd like to get a new bulb ASAP.

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a clear indication of type of bulb it is I did not realize there are two different types of bases sold with this light. I found out that there is a normal or standard base and then there is a wider base for this product. There was no mention of the size of the base on your website so after receiving your product I installed it in the fixture and it fried the entire circuit destroying the dimmer as well as the master controller in the house. Would be beneficial to make pp aware that there are several versions of theses bulbs. Since you are a company that prides itself helping normal pp to work on projects in and around their home I would suggest trying to give your customers all the information as to educate and inform them January 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Base Size clearly marked There are three types of bases. Standard Edison, Intermediate, and Candelabra. The base size is clearly marked on the package. If the bulb doesn't screw in properly, you got the wrong size. Be sure not to use a plastic housing as this bulb gets very hot. February 4, 2015
