I want more light in the room lit by one of these bulbs in a ceiling fixture. I want to put in an LED bulb to give more lumens at the same wattage. Is it possible without going into the rafters to bypass the ballast?

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CFL Good replacement for existing lamp. Would be good if there were more variety in temperatures. April 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Choose Carefully This bulb looked like the old one but would no fit because of two tiny plastic tabs on the sides that were different. Choose carefully. They look alike but tabs were reversed. The one that needed to be high was low & vice versa. There was no way to turn it to make it work. August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst bulbs ever - absolute rubbish - burn out very quickly with minimal Unfortunately, the house I live in came with three light fittings that take these bulbs. I have lived in this house a bit longer than 3 1/2 years, and these bulbs say that they last 11 years based on three hours use a day. I probably don't use the lights in that area more than 1/2 hour a day, no more than 1 hour a day, and I've had to replace seven of these bulbs so far,- three, three, and one - and it's not easy for me. I've got to get out the eight foot step ladder every time and drive to a completely different area out of my way to get these. Philips seem to have a near monopoly on light bulbs where I live, otherwise I would buy any other brand. No other company could make anything worse than these. These are the worst light bulbs I've ever had. I've got some ordinary, old-fashioned GE bulbs in the bathroom that have far outlasted their quoted time span. I only wish I could find something like that for the rest of the house. August 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good light, weird shape I had to purchase this due to the house we bought and the previous owner used this kind of bulb in a bathroom light fixture. I would have preferred a more standard bulb because this is one of about 7 different types of bulbs throughout our house. The light is clean and bright, but the shape is off-putting. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bathroom fan light Great replacement for the light I needed. It fit great. January 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor length of service Maybe a different brand would last longer. Lasts only a little more than a year in bathroom used by one person April 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Philips Neutral light bulb Long lasting light and easy to install. I use in the bathroom vanity which provides excellent lighting. March 10, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bulb Dies Before The Life Time Unfortunately my house came with recessed lighting that requires these types of bulbs (kitchen and bathrooms). Home Depot only sells this brand and it appears that after replacement, the bulb burns out within a few months. Some of the bulbs only lasted a month. HD only has Neutral and Soft White colors. HD should look into buying a different brand and in Daylight color. January 14, 2015
