What's the voltage input for this lightbulb?

It's NOT in the specification, unfortunately!

Recently, I purchased several Philips LED light bulbs, and had the disappointment when arrived home and noticed that they were for 12V only! Of course, I headed back to the store to return them right away...

I'm intending to use this light bulbs as a direct replacement for some 50W 120V MR16 halogen light bulbs, with no extra cabling, transformer installation, etc., pursuing the obvious savings in energy consumption.

Answer:
These are 120V LED lamps. Note the base is the 2-pin quarter-twist-in GU/10, rather than the two pin push-in base. You will find they are just as bright, if not brighter than 50w MR16/GU10 lamps.

If a regular incandescent bulb is OK to use inside the glass dome, then certainly an LED will be. But please, don't use a halogen! The tip-off is "35W equivalent". You get the equivalent amount of light, but a lot less energy is used (80%, I think) so you get a lot less heat. Old-style ordinary light bulbs equated wattage with the amount of light produced (lumens). I suspect the language about "watt equivalent" applied to LEDs is to make it easier for customers to judge how bright the LED will appear to be. Hope this helps without getting technical. Answer:
Hello, this LED MR16 bulb should not be used in a recessed fixture. Any Philips A-Shape or decorative candle LED bulb can be used in an enclosed ceiling fixture, though:

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Glad to see these discontinued I bought three of these LED bulbs marked 9290002120 about a year ago and all three have now quit working. They have all failed within the same month. I had them in a track light fixture and on a timer where they were only on in the evening for about 4 hours per day. Not very good for a LED that is advertised to last 22 years. Went back with the old halogen lamps and they work fine. February 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent light but pricey - save your receipt and the package I bought three of these bulbs to use in a decorative accent/track lighting system that came with 3-50w halogen MR16 bulbs. These flood lights use only 4 watts each (less than 10% energy use) and do not heat up at all. I am using the fixture in my living room to cast spot/flood light on two pictures on two different walls and provide some ambient lighting. I was not sure how they would work once installed, if they would be bright enough (for 200 Lumens each), and if I could use a dimmer without issues. The blister-pack packaging is impossible to open without destroying it. I previously had issues with Philips BR30 flood lights with a Lutron LED dimmer - they would dim but make a annoying buzz. The BR30 Cree or GE bulbs did not make the buzzing noise. This time I used a Cooper LED dimmer (cheaper and as good) and the result was perfect. These dim nicely w/o buzz and the light quality is surreal - clean, dramatic light and bright enough for my purpose. My main gripe is the price. However, they come with a 6 year warranty if used 3 hours a day. I don't think I use them 3 hours a week in my living room. I saved the packaging and scanned the receipt. The other issue is the base of the bulbs - they are narrower than other LED bulbs I found, but larger than halogen MR16 bulbs to fit in my Broan range hood recess nicely. I hope LED manufacturers will take notice. October 8, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely terrible longevity. Do Not Buy. I purchased earlier this year and the bulb is already toast. Absolutely terrible, especially when cheaper Chinese knock offs are still working. Regardless of the warranty, what a P-I-T-A to continually replace them and each time requiring sending the old bulb back to Phillips. December 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good LED, yes it's expensive I searched for a good LED and tried some that had terrible color and some that buzzed. This one has a very pure white light and produces no noise that I can hear. It also dims perfectly and goes very dim (some don't). At first I didn't appreciate the difference in quality between a $10 LED and a $20 LED ... I do now. January 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Last 10x longer than halogen lamps, are brighter and use less energy. Color rendition is great! Wow! I had 9 MR15/GU10 halogens in my kitchen. 50W each, 450W total. Gets a bit pricey replacing them, and then there is the undeniable cost of 450W running 8 hrs/day. These Phillips replacements are for 35W halogen equivalence, but to my eyes and those of my partner, they look brighter than the 50W halogens! I was concerned about the color of LED s, but instead of that blue-ish tinge like the early led down-lights, these are virtually indistinguishable from a halogen at full brightness. And the power consumption? 35 watts for 9 lamps--less than 1/10th the power consumption coupled with increased brightness. I am very, very impressed with these lamps. And they'll last 10x as long (so Phillips claims) as a halogen. So they pay for themselves in the first 2000 hrs of burning, when you'd be out paying 11 bucks for each burned out halogen down-light. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is they won't cook me breakfast. One difference of note: If used with dimmers, they don't change color to a more reddish orange like halogens do when dimmed. They remain white, but get dimmer. Kinda weird at first if you've lived your life with incandescent bulbs. February 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Burn out OFTEN! Great idea, and have used them at several properties, but are always burning out! Really frustrated with this product. Home Depot says they never get returns but I find that hard to believe. January 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not purchase, beware! I purchased 4 of these dimmable bulbs for an existing fixture and one of them has already failed after 2 months of use. At almost $20 each, I am greatly disappointed by the quality of this item. December 29, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by nice color, but beam is too narrow I liked the color...similar to tungsten halogen, but the beam pattern is much too narrow for my application, which is a range hood. It puts two spots on the cook-top that do not meet in the middle, leaving the back-splash behind in the dark. It may also be worth mentioning that the body of the lamp is a little bit bulkier than a normal halogen MR16, so it was a very tight fit in the range hood. And I would comment too that the blister-pack packaging is really irritating...essentially impossible to get the lamp out without destroying the package and potentially the lamp itself. Home Depot's own Eco-Smart LED worked great in the same application, but failed after less than one year. Apparently they have now discontinued that model, which is why I decided to try this one.
