Answer:
Also, if you want the same "hue" get cool white again or try the natural light supreme version I mentioned in a previous answer. I have tried the "Daylight Deluxe" version when I replaced a Sylvania cool white bulb like you are replacing and didn't care for the change in hue.

Answer:
Oops, didn't completely read your question. Any of the T12 bulbs should be compatible physically. I just prefer the Natural Light versions. A couple of the bulbs I replaced were 34 watt and the 40 Watt bulbs were within the capability of the ballast/fixture.

Phillips "Natural Light" F40T12/C50 Supreme. Should be in same shelf area at HD, same brand just different hue. About the same price also I think.

I have several fixtures that have sat unused, new in box, for several years with Philips cool-white tubes (F40CW). But I'd like to use daylight tubes in some locations and not have to buy new fixtures/ballast.

Answer:
As long as the ballast can operate standard F40T12 lamps (not high output), there should not be any issues. Should check the ballast label that states what lamps can be used. Thank you.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and bright Bulbs were easy to replace. Nice and bright, brighter then the previous 32's. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shop light purchase Great bulbs, excellent bright lights and price is right. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This product Worked Great for me I had several failing lights in my closet. The bulbs were not getting bright as they used to which made dressing and picking clothes very difficult. I purchased these new at Home Depot, installed them and problem solved. In fact they are brighter than the previous bulbs April 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by These lights do not last - Their warranty is only 6 months, not 18 years! I have had 11 of 20 of these T12s burn out far short of their life expectancy. In my home, I wanted the daylight look as "warmer" (in other words, yellower) lights bothered me. My home was built in 1985 and features the 4' T12s througout. I have other brands of those warmer lights from the early 1990s STILL working! None of those older tubes are the Philips brand... These new "Alto" (aka "low mercury") lights fail considerably sooner than the old-school tubes. It cannot be the ballasts' fault as I have moved those older lamps to the fixtures and they are still working. I called Philips and their warranty only goes to 6 months, not 18+ years, so buyer beware. Since the daylight tubes are more expensive, I suggest trying another brand if you want them to justify their price because these tubes were an utter disappointment. May 23, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Purchase These tubes will not work with older fixtures, they would not even fire up. (They did work on the new fixtures I replaced in my garage) I then went to Lowes and got the GE tubes and they fired up immediately on the older fixtures and seem to much brighter. February 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Did not care for the "color" Bought these for my laundry room. They had a bright slightly bluish tone to them which I did not care for. I returned them and traded for the "Natural Light Deluxe" version in the same product line (which has a better CRI) and have been happy with those. May 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sunshine in your house! This bulb was the daylight wattage. I used it in my kitchen. I can see again. Didn't know there was such a light. April 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Light We use these in our kitchen, though there are 4 of them in the unit the light is bright but not irritating. Will purchase again. March 18, 2014
