I have various traditional light fixtures holding two T-12 fluorescent tubes (4 foot long). Can I just replace the current fluorescent bulbs with these LED units? Do I need to do anything with the current ballasts?

Answer:
You will need to remove the ballast. LED bulbs do not need a ballast. A slight amount of rewiring of your fixture is required, it's not very difficult. I recommend watching a few YouTube videos on the matter before attempting.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely happy I bought these bulbs to replace my T-12 florescent bulbs in my garage. I do not keep my garage heated which causes causes the florescent bulbs to not want to come on. These LED bulbs come on right now with bright light. A little rewiring of the T-12 fixtures is required but not impossible or even that difficult. You need to have non shunted fixture sockets, some you can rewire to make them non shunted but if not you will just have to buy new non shunted sockets which are fairly cheap. January 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, easy to install. I initially had a hard time installing as the instructions provided by home depot on the site were wrong and the wiring was incorrect. I did find instructions in the bottom of the box and when I followed them, they work perfectly. I highly recommend these lights and will be purchasing more soon. December 17, 2013
