Product Overview

This Philips 9 Watt Energy Saver CFL Light Bulb (2-Pack) is an ideal replacement for a 40 watt incandescent A19 light bulb and standard CFL bulbs. Featuring TuffGuard protection, the silicone-covered bulb is soft to the touch and shatter-resistant. If the bulb accidentally breaks inside, the silicone cover provides a safety barrier that contains broken glass, providing peace of mind by keeping your family safe and ensuring no-hassle cleanup. The smaller-sized bulb looks like an incandescent and fits in most fixtures, ideal for use in kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, offices, family rooms and bedrooms, among other spaces. It has a soft white (2700K) light, similar to incandescent light, creating a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. This Energy Star-qualified bulb lasts up to seven years and saves you up to $80 in energy costs over its existence. It can be used in open hanging pendants, table/floor lamps, ceiling fans and open or enclosed ceiling/wall fixtures. (E)* means this bulb meets federal minimum efficiency standards.

Hello, I am planning to replace the current Halco Incandescent 60W Bulbs in my house with these Fluorescents but I have a question about this 40W Equivalent version and a 60W Equivalent version. The Incandescent bulbs we got in 2007 and none of them have went bad except for a few which were Fluorescents from Wal-Mart that were in the Kitchen. I got a pack of the 60W Equivalent Soft White (2700K) A19 A-Line Spiral CFL Light Bulb (2-Pack) (E*) but thought they were a little too bright, how much dimmer will these be? I don't need them to be a lot more dimmer but a little bit would be nice. Thank you for the time to read my question.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very cool light Literally needed a cooler bulb for my gooseneck lamp next to my computer and this really fit the bill. That it's safety coated is a added perk. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good product Very pleased with size and appearance. The covering offers protection and improves the appearance, making it look like a normal light bulb. July 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Beware - Silicone bulb, not glass Bought these bulbs to match one that I purchase online since the ecosource brand was no longer available. The store ordered the first one for me. I was trying to replace one of four overhead vanity lights in a bathroom and wanted them all to match. The first one I had ordered worked great but did not visually match so I decided to swap our the three others. I ordered two of these packages since I needed three more bulbs. The description does not say that it is a SAFETY BULB WITH SILICONE BULB to catch any broken spiral CFL pieces. The shape and length are a bit different but it will work for the time. Unfortunately, or fortunately, these were safety bulbs since one of the bulbs was actually broken and I did not realize it until I installed it. and felt pieces rattling about and saw them sitting in the bottom of the bulb. I was actually shocked that the bulb still worked but took it back anyways since it had been damaged in shipping. It was only sent in a bubble wrap envelope and should have been in a box with padding. When I took it back to the local store, they do not stock these and gave me full credit(two bulbs) for the one bulb i returned. When I returned home to order the replacements online, they DID NOT have any for purchase online. I sure hope they get them back in stock and continue to sell them since I will now be looking to use these instead when one blows out. May 19, 2015
