Customer Questions & Answers

These bulbs do dim with my Lutron dimers but they flicker sometime even at full brilliancy. Do they make a dimmer that works better with these bulb.

I like the bulbs but they do flicker, I purchase other Philips LED bulbs that are working fine with my existing dimmers.
Asked by: Anonymous
First I would check to make sure that the Lutron dimmer you are using is for LEDs and not just for incandescent. You will notice in the aisle at home depot that they have two different colors on the tops of the dimmer boxes. This is the quick indication which you have. If I remember, the yellow label on the top of the dimmer box says LED, and the white does not... The biggest difference between an LED dimmer and a regular dimmer is the LED dimmer can be programmed to remove some of the "line noise". Sometimes LEDs can only be dimmed so far down and you have to adjust the lower end until the flickering stops. If this is not the problem it may be that you have too many LEDs on a single load. Unlike an older style filament bulb, an LED is a solid state, meaning that the light source is basically glued to a board. The flicker effect sometimes occurs because there is too much "Line Noise" on a single dimmer. An incandescent filament shakes to reduce this noise, but since the LED is solid state, the noise will build up causing the flickering. This issue is generally fixed by having fewer LEDs on a single neutral wire going back to the panel. When I install LEDs I will install dedicated neutrals for each LED fixture if they are to be dimmed. You can test this by changing the dimmer to a regular on/off switch and the flickering should stop if there are only a few LEDs on the load. If this is not the problem you may have too few watts on a single load. Most dimmers have a minimum load requirement to properly function. LEDs use significantly less wattage and may not reach an incandescent dimmer's minimum requirement. You will need to refer to the dimmer package or use the model number to look it up on Home Depot's or Lutron's website. Lastly, There are some LEDs that have a twinkle effect built into them. I did not check this product first, so I apologize if this does not help. The package usually states on the front of the package somewhere if it has this effect.

Are these shielded for EMI?

Cheap LED lights emit radio frequency interference, which caused my garage door opener to not work with remotes when the lights are on. Are these shielded to not interfere with other electronics?
Asked by: drmac
ALL our LED products meet or exceed FCC regulations in PART 95, which sets limits on the radio frequency emissions from what they call “unintentional radiators”. ALL electronic devices must meet these stadards The problem is the receivers in (especially older) garage door openers. They have very little rejection of interference. Unfortunately, if he or she has a problem (more likely with a LED lamp IN the socket on the garage door opener) with a LED lamp, there is only one solution, separate the LED lamp(s) from the garage door receiver antenna.

40W Equivalent Soft White (2700K) B13 Blunt Tip Candle Dimmable LED Light Bulb (4-Pack) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, but larger than its equivalent incandescent bulb. I like the product. However, this candelabra bulb is longer (taller) than the incandescent bulb it replaces in a 6-light chandelier fixture over a dining table. The top of bulbs protrude over the top of the globes, so I was unable to use these where intended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Deal I Could Find I decided to replace 4 incandescent candelabra bulbs in 4 wall sconces to have cool-to-the-touch bulbs that use a lot less energy. I did a lot of online research to find the best deal for this type of bulb. These bulbs are a perfect replacement. An added bonus...they give off a star burst effect on the wall above the sconces. My wife and I think that's a cool feature. I would definitely buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great new bulbs, good light So far so good with these new bulbs. I bought them to replace some burned out 40w bulbs and wanted to get LEDs without sacrificing the light output. They look great and the light is definitely as bright if not brighter than the other incandescent 40w bulbs that haven't burned out yet. I love that they're dimmable as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what we needed The dimable bulbs provide us with the range of lighting strength we haven't had before, serving two adjoining areas when we need it with much greater efficiency. As is often the case, the product was "overpackaged," beyond what seemed necessary to protect the bulbs. That's my only complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Have tried 2 other candelabra options even the Philips before this new iteration. Philips by and above are the best LED's. My home has all led's and never have the Philips gone out. Well made. The problem with the previous candelabra that Philips made was that it didn't cast enough down light in open fixtures. Not so with this one. Almost perfect. They do have a large heat sink base, but besides that they are perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent My 360 Watt chandelier is now a little over 40 Watts thanks to these. And I'd certainly rather look at these than the old incandescents .. They look really nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from May Not Work Properly on a Timer I got these bulbs for an outdoor light that is on an electronic timer. For some reason, these bulbs stay dimly lit, even when the timer has them "off." Maybe this is due to the bulbs, or the timer -- who knows. There is nothing on the package saying these bulbs cannot be used with an electronic timer -- but you may want to try one first, before you buy a lot of them.
