Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Light Bulbs! I have 11 outdoor spot lights that shine on my house and under several trees in my yard. I initially used 20w halogen lights for these fixtures which gave off a warm 2700k light. With the intention of saving money, I decided to upgrade to LED lights. I was amazed at the difference it made. These lights not only save money, but they are brighter! This could be due to the 3000k color which is slightly more on the white side, but these lights illuminate my house and trees effortlessly. Also, the halogen bulbs would keep burning out at random, and I was annoyed with the hassle of replacing them. These should last as long as advertised. For the price, you are buying a brighter light that will last a very long time and burns with very little heat. In fact, the halogen lights made the light fixtures so hot, I couldn't even touch them. Now, you would hardly know they were on. This could also decrease the risk of a fire! During the summer, I have these lights set on a timer to burn for 4 hours after sunset. During the winter, I will change it to 6 hours. I calculated my savings during the summer to be $2.40/month and during the winter, $3.50/month. (11.7c/kWh) The break-even point will average out around 4 years, but life-expectancy of these bulbs will average at around 15 years. The savings may not be worth the price for some people, but for me it is worth the extra brightness, efficiency, and long life these bulbs have. Well done Philips! July 1, 2013
