Customer Questions & Answers

Why can't I use this in a ceiling fan?

Asked by: JCB
Use only the manufacturer's recommended bulb type and wattage in you fixture. There are 'rough service' bulbs available for certain fixtures, such as fans, that are better suited for fixtures with fan motors.

I have single lighting fixture which hangs from the ceiling over a chair. The bulb has never been replaced. After 10 years, it finally just blew. Inside of the shade it says T4, E11 base, 60 watt max. It's on a dimmable switch. It almost looks like the photo here, so I'm guessing it's a halogen bulb. I don't see any 60 watt halogens. Can I use 75-watt or do I need to stay with the 50-watt? Thanks!
Asked by: Stephanie
if it says 60 MAX then I would stick with that or less like 50w, mine said 70 MAX I couldn't find one with 70w so I put a 50w on it, it looks a little bit weaker but it's hardly noticeable the 50-watt will be fine

I want to replace a 50 w JD halogen bulb with a led bulb. What do i need ?

Asked by: jimb
You should contact the manufacturer of your fixture to determine if a replacement is recommended. Otherwise, you should purchase and install a new LED fixture, which will be both safer and use less power. Retrofits are not always reliable

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Phillips hologen sconce light Bulbs My experience with these bulbs are that they tend to blow out after a very short period of use if you look at my purchase history, six 100 W Phillips halogen bulbs Lifespan of these bulbs is too short for the price of each bulb they average about 3 to 4 months in use life.

I've had to buy three sconce bulbs for our kitchen in the last six months, rather than blaming the bulb, I'd rate it fair.
