I originally purchased 4 of the EcoSmart BR20 LED bulbs for a Calablanca ceiling fan. They are 3000k, so a bit "whiter" than I would like. So I then purchased these Philips BR20 since they are 2700k, just like the Philips A19 LED bulbs. I do like the 2700k of this Philips BR20 more than the 3000k EcoSmart, but the problem is that they are too directional and do not fill the room with light, instead of being a spotlight. Because of this, I went back to using the EcoSmart since they fill the room better. There is a 2700k version, but is made by EcoSmart's parent company Lighting Science Group, and has to be special ordered.

I bought a four pack of these from Home Depot since the four pack was $2/bulb cheaper. These are very high quality bulbs, with just the right temperature (2700K) for my tastes. They look great (good color and dim well). While I was waiting for these bulbs to arrive, I happened upon a great deal for the FEIT 8W R20 LED bulbs. They were about $7/bulb including a National Grid rebate. The FEIT bulbs perform just as well as these. I can't comment on how long they will last, but like all bulbs they are rated for 25,000 hours or so. If you can't find the FEIT bulbs, I would recommend the pricey Philips bulbs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LEDmaster Best R20 LED bulb out in the market today
I installed 5 of these in my kitchen. They give out a color very close to the 50W Halogen's they are replacing. At my usage level/energy price, these will pay for themselves in less than 2 years. My application does not require dimming. I tested these for dimming as well and they are fine except I would caution against any LED dimming light as when dimmed LED's do not "glow" like a Halogen/incandescent light. Therefore they give the feeling of a poorly lit room and pretty ugly. You will not be happy with most (if not all) LED dimming light in a residential application.

Yes these may be more costly than your father's light bulbs, but they're worth every penny! They cost just north of $2.00 per year to run, they'll last nearly two decades, don't add heat to the room, and throw off a nice soft white light. Do yourself a favor and make the investment now that makes sense!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bill Excellent flood for kitchen track lighting
I switched our 8 halogen bulbs in our kitchen's track lighting for this Philips bulb after a great deal of research. This bulb is truly a flood and projects a warm soft light, while so many others are spots. Dimming was essential for our application and after a great deal of research I located a Lutron - model 153 dimmer switch that does a nice job. Very pleased with the new lightning as well as only using 64 watts instead of 320.

Finally an LED in the R20 Form factor that has the same soft 2700K of an incandescent. It works with my existing dimmers too. I looked at the CFL option over the years but the dimmers needed to be changed. My kitchen just went from 450 watts to 80 watts. Hurray!

These are probably the best LED R20 lights available.

I love these bulbs, capacity to dim down to a warm glow in my track lighting or bright enough to do surgery!! Incandescent bulbs felt like I was getting a sun tan, these are cool. Initial investment scary, but over time I will recapture that money. I am replacing outside flood lights with LED's hoping for same
