CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 50 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good sale on energy efficient lighting! The light is sufficient and pleasant, and if they last as long and use as little power as predicted, they will prove to be a great value. The "screw in" aspect of installation obviously makes it easier than actually having to do wiring. The only problem is that the lip/edge of the lights is narrow and was not wide enough to completely cover the holes in the ceiling from our previoius lights. (They were the size that these are supposed to replace.) Fortunately the lip from our old lights was completely and easily removed (unlike these lights), and could be used with these lights to cover the hole. This worked well, but looks a little bit strange with the double lip/edge on the lights, and allows a bit of light to "escape" around the edge at the ceiling. However, overall we are very pleased. Rated 4 out of 5 by I am impressed, mostly. My entire kitchen had old recessed lights. I looked into several options, from changing them to pendant lights on part, and several other things. I had switched all the bulbs in the house to florescent bulbs and that made the recessed lights worse. Switching to the LED lights made the whole room bright, with a nice effect. They are not over-bright, but are wonderfully light. The housings were pretty loose on my ceilings, as I think the ones I replaced were an industrial version. I added some caulk around the openings and let it dry. I then replaced the LED fixtures and they looked perfect. I did not think LED lights were an option for me in the kitchen, because I had 10 to replace. The special Home Depot had on them was a welcome relief to the regular price. I am very pleased with these lights. September 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wished I had bought these sooner I picked these lights up online when they were on sale. I have always been skeptical about whether LED lights would work as well as the incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. Let's just say that I was pleasantly surprised. They even thought to put a clip in the middle of the wires to make it easier to install. Our house was built in the 60's and the kitchen remodeled in the past 10 years. With 9 recessed lights in the kitchen, the old bulbs created heat in the room that went unnoticed until I installed these replacements. My wife didn't even notice a difference in the output of light until I told her that I had swapped out the old bulbs for the LEDs. We look forward to recouping the cost of the lights through energy savings both for the lights themselves and the lack of heat output. July 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I can see clearly now! I just replaced nine (9) of my homes traditional flood light style recessed light units with these Philips LED units. Installation was very simple with no tools required. Beginning to end took approximately 5 minutes each. The new LED retrofit units fit like a glove and give off much better light. For that reason in some areas I replaced the standard single pole switch with a dimmer switch. I am extremely pleased with these LED lights and even more pleased that they were an easy DIY installation! July 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simple to install and makes big improvement! We have a 1980 home with recessed canned lights. When Home Depot had these on sale I went for a change. WOW what a difference. Not only is the lens attractive but the degree of light improvement was like going to a 100 watt bulb because it's no longer filtering through a tunnel. I am so excited for the new look after all these years plus we'll save money on the electricity. July 25, 2014
