Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great bulb totally pleased with this bulb. They say it is a 60 watt replacement and I find it is all of that. The color is very white probably best described as daylight. Not 'cool' (bluish). Not 'warm' (yellowish). This white makes it look all the brighter. I have installed one outside on the porch next to a CFL and there is no contest - the LED is whiter and brighter. Cold weather does not seem to effect it at all. Only warning: The lower half of the bulb is a reflector. It only projects from the base out. If you put it in a table lamp with the base down you will light up the lampshade, and the ceiling but not table below. Best for base up or horizontal installation. Also note that they are not dimable. February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Directs light where you need it -- perfect for a basement ceiling etc. I don't think people realize that in some applications a directional bulb like this gives you a lot more light for the same power, because it directs light where you want it. The picture says it all. The light is directed down from this dark, bare basement ceiling. It gives off the same light overall as other 10 Watt, 800 lumen (60 watt equivalent) LEDs, but it directs light downward. In effect, in my basement it's almost twice as bright as an omnidirectional bulb. I did compare it with a 14W CFL and a Philips SlimStyle LED in the basement. There's no question that this is sends MUCH more light into the room. It's good any place you need a directional light. I use it in a lamp with a metal shade for indirect lighting. I have a similar 40Watt equivalent bulb in a desk lamp. It's also good in a canister light instead of a BR30 reflector. It doesn't look quite the same, but it gives plenty of light. I wouldn't use it for a table lamp, though. There are a lot of places where you want an omnidirectional bulb. The color is fine. I really like the bright white (3000K), but that's a personal preference. So far the bulb is completely quiet. It's a great bulb. For value it's a tossup, as some omnidirectional bulbs are subsidized and REALLY cheap in my area. August 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clear, Bright White -- beats Cree for color I have been trying to replace all my CFL's with LED's, and have tried GE, Cree and Philips, variously. The biggest factors for me are light temperature and wattage. It is very difficult to find LED bulbs that aren't just one of two extremes -- Soft White (yellowish) or Daylight (bluish). Since my living room and kitchen are adjacent with no dividing wall, there is no way to use both without creating a jarring contrast. And I neither want yellow tinges in my (blue-countered) kitchen, or bluish starkness in my (warmer-toned) living area. Philips has helped with that problem. I took all three 60W bulbs (2700K, 3000K, and 5000K) and compared them (subjectively, of course) by placing them into a floor lamp, and then even going so far as to direct the beam onto different surfaces. While 3000K is technically 'warm', this bulb gave me the impression of a clean, stark white light with little to no noticeable tint. And despite the fact that they all were 800 lumens, it also seemed to me to be just a bit 'brighter.' (Note: This impression could simply be the result of not having a 3500K and 4100K to compare it with; next to those, it might indeed appear 'warm'. It is certainly much closer to 2700K than 5000K when compared side by side.) What this means for me (and others with open living areas) is that this is a slightly more 'neutral' light, appropriate for either kitchen or living area, and less likely to clash with my other LED bulbs at either end of the color spectrum. (I only wish they came in 75W and 100W LED equivalents, but as of the time of this review, those aren't available from Philips yet.) I tried taking pictured to illustrate the difference, but my cellphone tends not to catch variations very well and alters colours, more of a guideline than absolute accuracy. Left to right, 2700K, 3000K, 5000K. April 6, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NOT DIMMABLE I just received 7 of these in the mail, and now I have to return them. They are not dimmable, which would have been good to have been included in the description. The package says "not-dimmable", at least. April 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent LED bulb! When looking for a true "60W replacement", I like to look in the 700 to 800 lumen range, since there are some that claim to be 60W, but just don't show the right light level! This bulb is exceptional, and has an excellent, even light distribution. The photos I attached have the LED on the left, and a 100W incandescent on the right, and you practically can't tell the difference! I think the LED looks better. less "yellow", which is definitely my preference. March 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great price, great bulb, BUT I think this bulb is great, and the price is incredible compared to other websites including Amazon. However, you need to be careful because while it does not note it on the packaging, this bulb cannot be used in fully enclosed light fixtures, such as one might find in a typical home's hallway. It is stated in the fine print on the bulb but not on the packaging. Most LED bulbs cannot be used in fully enclosed fixtures, at least not yet, without shortening the life span considerably. This is why I took off one star; this should be a statement that is prominently displayed on the box itself and it is not. Overall though, if you are not using this in an enclosed fixture, you can't beat this bulb. June 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great color and brightness but unreliable I have replaced many lights in my house with these phillips bulbs. They are an excellent color (3000k), very bright and efficient (more light per watt than most LEDs). The only issue is that about15% - 20% of them burn out after about 4 to 6 months of use in the kitchen or other rooms. Given how expensive they are that is a problem. I expect them to last many, many years. MGreat light, just not as reliable as I would expect from a brand name such as Phillips. June 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Bulb that just has it going on! I was in the market for an LED Bulb at a good price with a high lumen feature. Since this Bulb was listed under the $10 mark, I'd thought I'd give it a whirl. Since the purchasing of this fine item, I've really enjoyed the heck out of it. Sometimes I find myself just standing by the light switch, screaming at the top of my lungs "Light goes on...light goes off". My wife often yells at me: "Would you just shut up?". Then I'll yell: "Quiet woman...check out my new Bulb". The she yells: "You really should get a new hobby!". Then I yell: "Good point!". Anywho, I really like this Bulb. January 21, 2014
