Probably not as it is a gas filled fluorescent bulb. LED is the way to go if you can afford it in my opinion

Answer:
When we say enclosed, we mean totally enclosed ,no air going in, like a ceiling fixture that ends up heating up.Typically an outdoor fixture has some venting
If for some reason heat builds up the only thing it would do would shorten the life of the lamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as a Grow Light! The 6500K is perfect for mimicking daylight. Color rating - Measured in Kelvin (K). The higher the number, the more bluish the light. 4000K-7000K is mostly on the blue side of the spectrum for GROWING (starting vegetables, etc.) I used 4 of these lights for growing. 4 lights at 13W each (52 watts total) is still under the wattage a regular light bulb would use They are working great and MUCH cheaper than purchasing a "grow" light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a very worthwhile product These bulbs are a great money saving investment. Lasting up to 9 years with an average estimated cost of $1.57/yr is a huge savings over the use of incandescent lighting. I bought the daylight bulbs because I prefer the brighter, whiter lights. I purchased enough to replace all the bulbs in my new apartment and get free shipping, and to my delight, they arrived several days prior to the estimated delivery date.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short life I've purchased these lamps often because they provide good light at low wattage. I have never gotten more than six months use out of any of them when they are used on a normal daily on / off situation. I've been marking the installation date on the base with a marker and some of them last three months & die. crumby product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much cheaper than other CFL bulbs I got this bulb after purchasing CFL bulbs from another major brand that were close to $7 for a pack of 3. This bulb is right at $4 for a pack of 4. You do the math. I will just have to see how long they last as I have had other CFL bulbs burn out relatively quickly in bathrooms or other areas where lights are frequently turned on and off. As long as the warranty on the bulbs is honored, it's not a big deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light bulbs next best thing to true daylight! The bulbs delivery the quality light that I have been looking for; I should have gone to Home depot first. I plan on purchasing more Bulbs before the winter dull days are here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Daylight bulb makes the room brighter The daylight bulb is the brightest of the CFL's much brighter than the soft light bulb, but trhere is a glare if your trying to read next to it.
