I don't think this will fit globe ceiling fixture as its height is almost 7" and globe bulbs are about 4".

Yes, it can be used but it will effect light output depending on the globe ceiling fixture. example: if its a clear housing light output will be fine, but if it has textures or its not a clear housing it will dramatically affect light output

the package only says these lights are not suitable for dimmers and that they cant be used for emergency exits fixtures nothing about regular ones.

I've used these bulbs in semi-enclosed light fixtures with no problem at all. I'm not sure what constitutes an 'enclosed' fixture according to Philips. If they mean an airtight fixture with no ventilation whatsoever, then I suppose the bulb could theoretically overheat and fail. But I have used these LED bulbs in about eight different types of lamps/fixtures inside and outside the house in all kinds of weather and they don't have any problem at all. These LED bulbs run so cool that you can grab them with your hand and they don' t burn, which you could never do with a regular incandescent bulb. The base does run a little warm though, and the electronic drivers in the base may be sensitive to heat, so even though these bulbs only generate a small fraction of the heat of a regular incandescent bulb, I'd follow Philips' recommendation not to use them in a tight enclosure.

Yes. 4-pack for $10.97. I just bought one at the store. There's also a 4-pack of 2700K (softer, warmer white) for $9.97. And last year they sold a 2-pack for about $5. So plenty of precedent for this price.

No bulb or bulb manufacturer can say with 100% certainty that their bulb is completely shatterproof. Dropping a bulb can be met with it bouncing with no harm to shattering on the floor. Shattering while in use is usually caused, but not always, but heat generated by the bulb and a weakness in the glass assembly being exposed. I would find it hard to see an LED bulb shattering because of normal use, but if there is an electrical anomaly, dropping, or any other foreign use or aspect given towards the bulb, one cannot ever dismiss the potential for the bulb to shatter or break.

They seem to be. I don't have any manufacturer literature that says so, one way or the other. But they appear to be made of some kind of polycarbonate and ceramic material, rather than glass as used in conventional incandescent bulbs. I haven't tried to smash one of these new bulbs with a hammer, but I doubt very much it would shatter like glass. They appear to be shatterproof.

Looks like the price of the LED bulb is now low enough that I have started replacing my CFL bulbs around the house. I prefer the daylight color for all my outside lighting and these fit the bill. The instant on is a welcome change over the old CFL technology. These look nice in my porch lights. I did not see anything on the box stating it is for outdoor use. I see no dimmers, and do not use where directly exposed to water and to install only in operating environments between -4F and +113F . My fixtures should keep the bulb dry so I'm using them in my porch fixtures and the look is fantastic! I also used the soft white in my daughters bedroom and she loves it! The build quality appears to be above the "norm" so at this price I'm sold!
