The light radiates nearly spherically. There are 8 or more LED chips arranged circularly in the base and another 2 near the center just below the plastic internal lens. All the light appears to come from the plastic lens. The lens is a complex shape and does a good job at scattering the light every which way. All the light appears to come from the plastic lens. The lens is a complex shape and does a good job at scattering the light every which way. IMO they are a much better choice than a CFL in my application, where the bulb and lens is partially visible through the glass lamp shade. I think they would have a better aesthetic in many applications where you can actually see the bulb inside the fixture. Read Less

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good led light Easy to use, insert into socket and twist until it stops. only requires one person to install this product. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Alot better then I thought. It's been a pain finding ones that we liked and when I saw these, bingo. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, dimmable light bulbs The light bulbs look very well made and do provide lots of light, there are four above the vanity in the Master Bath. They currently only dim a bit before they "pop off." I hope they will offer more range in their dimming range as they age a bit. I heard they would. Be nice to provide a bit more subtle lighting when wanted. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good buy Great bulbs at the price. Highly recommend this purchase. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Can you say bright? WOW I made the mistake of buying 25W equivalents for my ceiling fan and boy was it ever dim. Now that I've stepped up to 60W equivalents it's time to add a dimmer switch! These certainly put out enough light and I hope they still seem to offer enough once I paint my walls a darker color. I love the option of being able to dim the light in the future. And now that I've installed LEDs I shouldn't need my step ladder for anything other than cleaning the fixture. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product - Long term payoff These LED lamps work well. I bought 8 of them and there were none DoA. The build quality is really quite good. The lamp is clear shatterproof plastic, not glass. The light output has a high "temperature" so they tend to look brighter than they really are. These are used in my bath, where many CFL bulbs cannot be used. In my case, they were significantly less bright than the incandescent 60W bulbs they replaced. I would have said they are 50W or 45W equivalent. These bulbs flicker - even more so than CFL. It's not normally noticeable to me, but if I move my hand or comb quickly, I get a "stop-action" effect of seeing a set of parallel images all next to one another. It does not bother me, but if you are troubled by flickering lights, then this might be something to watch out for. I took the plunge on LED lighting b/c they were on sale, and while they are extremely expensive, it appears that energy savings will pay for their cost in 2-3 years. At half the price, I would start using LED lighting a whole lot more. Moreover - LED lamps turn on instantly and have a very long life (these are rated at 27,000 hours). If you have a nightmare lamp location - say that recessed flood lamp at the top of a 2 story ceiling with stairs underneath it - then it's a no-brainer to put a LED lamp there and never change it again. Just make sure to put in a bigger "equivalent watts" bulb so it doesn't wind up being too dim. December 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice warm light. Works well with Lutron Dimmer Works well in my ceiling fixtures. Doesn't flicker with dimmer and has good dimming range. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Greatest Ever What a way to cut down electric cost, better than advertised, went from 650 Watts (10 bulbs) down to 65 Watts, it's a no brainer. Oh by the way, they work with NO BUZZ, NO FLICKERING, spend the money don't be cheap and help the electric company's, they need the revenue. September 30, 2015
