Customer Questions & Answers

Is this bulb manufactured to be used outdoors in carriage lights?

The carriage lights are enclosed and on the front of a garage. The location is in Michigan so the temperature variation is significant. I have used other LED bulbs in the lights and the lasted no longer than incandescent lights. Will these bulbs out perform incandescent type? Please advise as I would like to make a purchase as soon as possible.
Asked by: Stan
Yes, they are rated for DAMP locations, which is just fine for intact post and coach light applications. The low color temperature of 2000K is excellent for simulating the old-time 1900s type filament look, or even gaslight. I use them in coach lights with crinkle glass in them, either side of my front door and they look warm and inviting. NOTE: Antique-type filament lamps of any type, incandescent or LED, do not put out 800 lumens like white lamps do. They simulate the low-light of incandescents of that era. there is still plenty of light for navigating steps nearby. I have mine on a dimmer because for the gaslight effect I desired, I wanted even lower light. Really a nice effect!

Customer Reviews

60W Equivalent Vintage Soft White A19 Dimmable LED Light Bulb is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Different but not bad The light is more orange like a flame than a white so the area that is lit does not seem to compare. My biggest reason for getting this product is because of the life expectancy projected on the package. I'm am tired of replacing bulbs every couple of months. If these last longer than that, I will come back and provide an update. If they do not last very long either, I will update then too

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mistake on the packaging... not 60W equivalent... is 32We per Philips I wondered why this seemed nowhere near as bright as other Philips 60W equivalent warm white LED bulbs I have bought from Home Depot, and found the answer. There is a significant error on the packaging. It states 60W equivalent but the Philips literature on this same bulb states it is a 32W equivalent bulb. You will find that information if you google "4.5A19b/LEDFilament/822/CL-A/DIM 120V" and you can download the leaflet from the Philips link in the top search result. This puts out 350 lumens of rich warm light; a representative Philips Warm White true 60W equivalent bulb from Home Depot puts out 800 lumens. So, a mistake is there and we still love this bulb. The color warmness is the best I have seen from a LED bulb, rich and warm (2000K), and the bulb can be in a fully enclosed fixture, and is dimmable. So, expect a 32W level of brightness, not the stated 60W level, and you'll be very happy. These last a very long time, so I don't mind the cost. I'm expecting a clearance sale from Home Depot/Philips to come up pretty soon as they shift over to corrected packaging. That is too bad, but mistakes do happen. I hope this helps..... see attached Philips spec sheet for this bulb.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Beautiful bulb. Very excited to see it on shelf. Did not work in room I wanted it for. Purchased two bulbs, very expensive, but if they looked good they would be worth the price. Placed bulbs in a small area two feet apart on swags. Very dim. Put it in another fixture-same result. Am taking bulbs back to store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outdoor lighting I purchased three (3) of these bulbs for use outdoors. I have placed them in enclosed carriage lights and an enclosed porch light. Although the brightness is not as advertised I do like the light each bulb produces. They look like vintage incandescent bulbs and that is exactly what I was trying for.
