Customer Questions & Answers

Will they fit in regular track lights in my kitchen?

I have an interior window sill (manufactured home with attached garage so window is for "decorative" purposes only...no light) that I would like to grow herbs on. There are track lights above the sink and window. I need "grow" bulbs to fit.

Would this bulb be good to use for an Orchid?

Asked by: jason
Yes, this would work for Orchids as long as it is fairly close to them and if there are only 3 or 4 smaller plants. Most grow lights need to be 12-18" from the plants so they don't cast a very large radius of light.

Can this bulb be used with a regular floor lamp sold by home depot

Hampton Bay Black swivel floor lamp #AF36699BK Thanks
Asked by: bsafe
I have been using my bulb in a clamp-on fixture rated for 40W and it has run for three weeks with no overheating. The lamp fixture itself is warm, but not hot. This is a reflector bulb so most of the heat is directed out the front as compared to a standard light bulb. The bulb is relatively inexpensive, so it's worth trying in your floor lamp to check if the fixture gets hot. If so, you need a different fixture.

Do you have this product in the red?

I am wanting to buy this light bulb for my indoor plants. Model # 415281, I only see the blue light, that's great for seedlings and winter time, but I need the red bulb for my plants trying to bloom now. Do you have the red bulbs also? philips 75 watt BR30 Agro Flood Plant Light Bulb
Asked by: Anonymous
for best results go with cfl florescent bulbs. i haven't seen red plant lights at home depot The Right Color Sunlight contains the complete spectrum of light including all colors of the rainbow: red through yellow to blue and violet. Plants use the full spectrum for photosynthesis, although red and blue light seem to be most critical. Red light stimulates vegetative growth and flowering, but if a plant gets too much red light, it will become tall and spindly. Blue light regulates plant growth, which makes it ideal for growing foliage plants and short, stocky seedlings. http://www.gardeners.com/how-to/gardening-under-lights/5080.html

i NEED PHILIPS 70W. C70S62/N

I had this growing light is it good for red and blue spectrum or another type?
Asked by: notsure
The C7 lamp is a night light and would not be suitable for growing of any sort (and we do not offer 70W in this shape). The Agro lights would be the best incandescent source for growing as they are specifically made for that application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our orchids love this bulb I just picked this bulb at random, looking for something to help our tabletop orchids through the winter. I put in in our dining room fixture about 12 inches above the tallest one. They really thrived under it. We use it year round now. I created a larger reflective cover for it, raised it a few inches, and moved some other house plants underneath. It seems to have the right spectrum for our purposes. I had an issue with the first bulb burning out after about 15 minutes. We've had two since then which have lasted at least a year each. (I've had that same experience with other light bulbs too. Sometimes you just pick a lemon. :) ). I would definitely recommend trying this bulb for a dining table mini-garden, or similar arrangement, etc.

After leaves began dropping (4-5 per day) from a new Schefflera arboricola plant placed in my office, the plant maintenance guy told me it was no getting enough light. I installed an Argo BR30 plant lamp in a clamp on fixture and within one day the leaves stopped dropping. after I week I had several new stalks of leaves growing from the center top, and three weeks later they are bright, shiny and fully grown with more coming - what a difference! I am running the lamp about 8 hours per day, but will reduce the time because I think the plant is growing too fast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does its job for a good price. I bought this bulb to use with a seed starting kit. I use the the bulb in an aluminum clamp light. The plants sprouted in less than a week and now that the seedlings are a couple inches tall, they are starting to lean toward the light (just like they would with the sun).

Our growth rate seemed to be slower than fluorescent grow lights and we could not place the lights close to the seedlings as they would have burned up. It did work; however I don't believe the light is the most effective.
