I had no intention to write a review BUT HD sent me an email asking for my thoughts. Be careful what you ask for. I built a home in 2007 and used a brand called LUMA for my Par30L Halogen bulbs. They began failing in March 2015 - Basically 8 YEARS on the job. Luma is no longer in business so I needed to buy new bulbs. I chose this bulb. It lasted 3 MONTHS. It was not a bad batch. I bought new ones. Same issue. I spoke to my electrician. He indicated that HD lighting products are often knock offs - like what you see from street vendors in big cities. In other words, not actually a Phillips product.

These bulbs are replacements for bulbs that burned out and work and look same as the predecessors.

I returned this bulb due to the dim light it produced in the can light fixture over a shower. I bought an LED bulb instead of the correct size and wattage that made the room much brighter.

As a reptile keeper, I keep an eye out for good quality bulbs that produce the right kind of light and enough heat to keep my pets healthy. I bought this bulb originally thinking it was the perfect fit. Halogen produces more heat, it was in the right wattage range for my needs, and it wasn't the "soft light" kind that tends to irritate reptiles.
I used it for a little while...and then it stopped working. So I bought another, exactly the same. Used it 14-15 hours a day for about 3 weeks, and then kaput - done. It lasted about 315 hours total, which is 1/3 of the advertised 1095 hours. Pretty sad.
Maybe it would have lasted longer if it hadn't been used so heavily, but this bulb was still a disappointment.

Bought several of these floods for an interior recessed lighting requirement. They produce a uniform and clear light without too much heat typical of older halogen bulbs. Haven't had them long enough to comment on longevity.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Remodeler Spot Light is More Like It (Not Flood)
The Home Depot description says "wide beam of light". Per the Philips website and a marking on the side of the bulb, the beam angle is 25 degrees. I would call this bulb a "spot" light, not a "flood" light as advertised. At best, it should be labeled as a "narrow flood". I replaced two R20 flood lights with two of these larger R30 "flood" lights expecting to get more light. The light spread was noticeably less. I put the R20s back in place and will return these bulbs. Philips does make this bulb with a 40 degree beam angle. Why doesn't Home Depot sell the 40 degree bulb?

Purchased this for a fixture in a high ceiling in the entry way. Hoping it lasts a long time so we don't have to change it often. The light is bright and perfect for the area.
