Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good bulbs (as long as they work), but Warranty is very restrictive The bulbs are good, good lighting etc. But warranty is terrible. Installed 8 of these on two separate circuits (4+4). These replaced old CFLs. These worked just fine, but one day, we had a power outage, and when power was restored, 6 of these didn't come back up. Could it have been a power surge? Sure, in theory, yes. The house has a whole house surge protector, and that indicates no spikes. Breakers of course didn't trip. Other devices/bulbs in the house are just fine. Even 2 of these 8 bulbs that are on the same circuit are fine. So, even if it was because of the outage, do these bulbs have less tolerance to variation in voltage/current? Called Philips - the moment they heard Power Outage, they said "Oh - HAS TO BE a power surge related issue. No need to test. We know it. Can't offer any warranty. Thanks for calling" <-- well, not exactly in these words, but that was the gist of it. I offered to send the bulbs in (at my cost) to them to test and see if it was in fact a power surge, and they said "No. Because it happened along with a power outage, it has to be a surge issue, and we don't cover that" So, my suggestion, if you ever have outages (rare, but yes, it still happens), look at other bulbs that either have better tolerance to these variations, or look for a company that has a better warranty policy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice color, very bright. This light shines brighter than the 120watt incandescent flood I replaced. The color is almost a perfect match for the incandescent bulbs. There is a fraction of a second delay when turned on but then it comes to full brightness. I estimate the delay to be about .25 seconds. After hours of usage, it was running at 105 degrees in an 80 degree room. The incandescent bulbs next to it measured at 220 degrees. This thing is using less energy and pumping less heat into my room! June 14, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Annoying high-pitched buzz The bulbs are aesthetically pleasing, and produce equally pleasing light with wide dispersion. However, they project a very audible, high-pitched buzz, not unlike CFL bulbs. For people with decent hearing, this can be annoying in quiet spaces, such as in a room reserved for study or listening to music. When used in conjunction with a Lutron CFL-LED-qualified dimmer, the noise level is multiplied several times over, and becomes unacceptably high. The bulbs work well in spaces, such as a kitchen, where noises from a refrigerator or the like tend to dominate. January 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I was looking for Tested several bulbs including philips par38 bright white flood but it's diffusion angle was too sharp, resulting in very bright columns of light which aren't great for lighting a kitchen. The diffuser added to this bulb is perfect and fills the room with light and doesn't cast sharp bright points. Color is also warmer at 2700k so it is closer to the color of standard floods. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Yes, LED's are a bit pricey, just convert a little at a time for significant elec. savings. Slowly converting all incandescent bulbs to LED. I find that the light is better, produces no heat and will really help when on generator power......My 7 recessed 65w kitchen lights equalled 455 W, new LEDs just 126W on full bright and are equal to 90W incandescent, dimmed a bit, use even less juice. I plan to convert a room at a time when I have a few extra bucks, although getting harder lately to find left over dollars. February 12, 2013
