I have four installed under a soffet and one installed at ground level, fully exposed to rain and snow (and has even been buried in snow and ice). None have failed or lost any brightness, that I've noticed.

I installed mine under an overhang of about a foot and a half on the west end of my house. I have 2 of these bulbs in a motion sensor fixture outside my back door--not under anything. They've been in since late fall 2013 and have been hit by lots of rain and snow. So far no problem.

I've read one review that says this bulb should not be used with sensor fixtures, said this is stated on the box? If this bulb is OK for my fixture, I will order. Looks as if this is the perfect bulb for me, my fixture uses two bulbs and both are out. Please explain the reason for the different uses.

On the box it says not to be used where directly exposed to water.

So why do they claim that this is an "outdoor" bulb. Almost all PAR 27 halogen or incandescent bulbs are in fixtures where they get wet directly from rain. So, it would not be considered a direct replacement of these. ??????????

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NOT Compatible with motion sensors or photo (light sensing) controls The package clearly states: This lamp is not compatible with photo controls, occupancy sensors, or timing devices. If the manufacturer is so concerned for your safety that they place this stern warning in a WANRINS AND CAUTIONS (that’s the manufacturer yelling not me) section on the packaging then maybe Home Depot should pass that info. along to potential buyers. Why are people, as evidenced by the reviews, totally disregarding the manufacturers clear warning and using these bulbs with motion sensors anyway? May 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well, good output Expensive, even when on sale. I live where the cost of electrical service is among the highest in the United States. I purchased two bulbs for an outdoor motion-sensor security light that faces the windward side of my house. The wind and rain can be a formidable test for this light. We'll see. So far it's working well. The cost of this light prevented the high value rating. May 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Had them a year and love them so far! I've bout 6 of these and have them mounted outside exposed to the elements. They're still working great! Nice bright light. I have nothing bad to say. I took one down to clean it off a bit and examine it closer to see if it had worn any. It looked brand new! They're exposed to the sun, rain, and snow. No problems. So far I love them! June 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PLEASED WITH THESE LIGHTS LIGHTES ARRIVED PROMPLEY. DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL LAST FOR THE PROMISED 22 AND 1/2 YEARS, BUT FOR NOW WE ARE PLEASED WITH THEM. March 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bright and well made All of these LED outdoor flood lights are expensive but this seemed to be a good deal when I shopped around. Quality seems good and they are bright but time will tell how long they last. October 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The light from this bulb is bright and the bulb is stable. The light from this bulb is bright and the bulb is stable. February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for motion sensor yard fixture. Nice bright light without the intensity of an alien invasion! The 2 bulbs easily illuminate my entire 30' x 40' yard. October 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the price Surprisingly powerful LED spotlight that can operate outdoors. Perfect for security lights around the house. The price is high, but the energy savings and long lifetime should make the price worthwhile. April 30, 2013
