Customer Questions & Answers

This will b going into my 55 gal. aquarium/ terrarium formy bonsai saplings. How many plants can benefit?

Asked by: blu28
Hmmm... Not sure that is the best thing to do. Please be careful using these bulbs in a closed area or next to glass. The light/plant benefit ratio would depend upon how far the light ray is cast. The light would also need to be on for about 8 hours a day for maximum benefit because of the lower wattage. Be careful though, because although a lesser wattage, these bulbs do get extremely hot to the touch; and can damage leaves if too close.

What kind of light fixture do I need for this bulb?

Asked by: blu28
The best fixtures I have found are either spotlight fixtures (from ceiling or floor) or 3 light floor lamps. Be sure that the wattage of these items will support the Philips Agro-Lite. Most fixtures may use up to 75 watts. Be mindful of the shape of the bulb as well, making sure that the light does not come into contact with the lamp.

Can this be put on a dimmer

This is too bright for my enclosure and I returned it without asking beforehand, is it able to be put on a dimmer?
Asked by: Arca
Hmmm... What would be the benefit of that? I would say no. But try consulting the Philips website.

This was a remarkable improvement over the previous design that had reversed polarity and would instead suck photons in, plunging the neighborhood into interstellar-grade darkness.

I have maybe 5 of these throughout, but what is strange is the last two I bought had a milky white face. There are not the blue face as you see in the picture and what my other lights are. I also tried a larger watt and it too was milky white: the 150 watt. I had only bought a 75 watt and it was blue also. Maybe they are changing? Have no idea why ??? So, I wonder now if it is more like a Heat Light instead of a grow light . Anyway, I augument these with a few grow lights in Led. Wish Philips made those too. Please respond if you know why changed color and if they are still effective.

If you are like me, you have plants and are able to move them from indoors to outdoors, then back indoors again. This type of lighting is integral for keeping all of your green friends thriving throughout the cold fall and winter months in Gotham! If you don't have plant lights and you don't have sufficient sunlight then your plant friends will not make it. Having these and the 75 watt Philips Agro-Lite will keep your green, leafy babies healthy and happy. Simple. Effective. Necessary.
