I have 3 of the units.
The first one I purchase, I was dubious that such a small device could not only play BR/DVD but media files.
I was pleasantly surprised and how well it work, especially for the cost.
BR take a while to load, but I can look past that, considering all the Java going on behind the scene.
DVD work great, and the up-scaling makes a DVD look fantastic even on a 60inch TV screen.
As for media file support, I love this. I've converted my children (seemingly) 100's of DVD to DiVX, put them on a USB hard-drive. No more scratch, lost or swapping out discs. The menu is basic, and I wish there were more characters displayed.
I now own two more and I'm happy with them.

Philips is my second choice in electronics. However my main TV and BluRay/DVD Player and most other AV Devices I own are Philips. This Player works great and has great built in options, it connects seamlessly to the TV and the Network. It has usable USB Ports and the simple Single HDMI Connection makes it easy to use on the entertainment system. I DONT LIKE. It only has 2 buttons on the actual device. Unless I have the remote, You cant do anything except turn the power on and eject the tray. If you lose your remote You Will Need to find/buy a new one otherwise you will have No control over the device.

This DVD/blu-ray player is junk! Within the first 2 weeks of receiving it it would not turn on! I had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to turn on. The sound is HORRIBLE! I have to have my tv volume extremely loud to hear what is playing. And the disk tray has to be pushed half way in for it to close. I hate it! I'm just glad I didn't purchase it, it was a gift.

I bought this player for my son. I wasn't really worried about having it wifi enabled, but it is a little annoying that I can't find the adapter to make it wifi ready. The remote doesn't like to work. I've put new batteries in it, but that didn't help. It works intermittently. It is not compatible with my UVerse remote, so I can't even not use the original. The door doesn't like to open. And it doesn't like to shut. The power button must be pressed several times, even when I wait several seconds inbetween. When you get it to work, it works great, but more often than not, my son and I both get too frustrated and give up. I'd take it back if I could find the reciept. :(

This player has proven to be a complete disappointment. I’ve owned it for less than a week and have attempted to use it every day. Every single time I try using it, I have extreme difficulty getting it to load/play discs. I am now writing this review after waiting 40+ minutes to get a disc that I played earlier to load and play again. I’ve attempted to reload the disc, turn the player on and off, everything I can think of, and still nothing. I should have known that nothing worthwhile comes at such a cheap price and I’ve gotten what I paid for. I’ll be returning this trash first thing tomorrow. Disgusted!!

I got this item as a gift and I had to call them and say it didn't work right. I took it back to the store once because the button to close it wouldn't work. It also froze on me and decided it wouldn't turn on. It's a good thing I didn't have any discs in it. It was also very slow to load anything.
When we replaced it with the same product, it worked fine the first few days. It was a tad bit faster, but started giving problems within the next few weeks. It froze and I had to unplug it to get it to work. The other day, it wouldn't turn on at all. Now, we tried to get it to work with our surround sound unit, and the surround sound will work with all of the other languages BUT English.
This is a TERRIBLE Blu-ray player and Philips should be ashamed of themselves for selling it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

I am very frustrated with this product! I have returned the first one and now the second does not work!!! I am able to get the Phillips logo on start up, but am unable to get to the home menu... and discs will not load. The first one I purchased would get to the home screen but would not load the movie! so i ended up with a more broken one the second time around!!! I am going tomorrow to return it to the store and will not attempt to purchase another! Like the other comment said, you get what you pay for!!

primarily bought it for using Netflix instant view however I was a little disappointed with the search functions and one other huge problem is that sometimes when viewing content on Netflix the player makes a loud hissing sound that only stops when you power down the player! I really like the way the player is designed and the picture quality is great... you just have to sort of be patient with the bugs I mentioned.. I haven't played a disc in it as of yet.
