Customer Reviews

Hue 65W Equivalent BR30 LED Starter Kit with Free Extra Bulb is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Starter Kit is Great - Extra Bulb is Not Starter Kit: The Starter Kit was easy to install and works pretty good overall. The lights themselves work as advertised. Its a little cumbersome to turn them on and off with the apps and the bridge has to be wired into your network. But if you want color changing light bulbs then this product delivers on that. Extra Bulb: The extra bulb is not a HUE bulb. It looks like one and even had the HUE paperwork in the box, but I spent days trying get it to connect to the bridge. Eventually I was able to track down the model number and found out it was a simple Philip's LED Flood light. Buyer Be Ware: I thought this was a great deal, but was very disappointed. There is a significant difference in value and usefulness between the bulbs that come with the starter kit and the so called extra one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Deceptive The starter kit with the 3 HUE bulbs was perfectly fine and I am very happy with the HUE system itself. However, the 'Free Extra Bulb' that I was sent was NOT a HUE bulb, just a standard Phillips LED flood light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected Everything was very easy to set up. Usually you always have a glitch, but not here. The extra light was the same light in the starter kit. Amazing colors and what a great control on your iphone. This is expensive, not for everyone. But for those that do indulge, you will be well rewarded with this product. You have so many apps for HUE it is amazing. You can have the lights dance to the beat of the music. Automatically change the colors. You have full control. I turn my lights on in my office and when I get home, they are on in full living color. I am going to replace all my lights with HUE lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional First of all, before purchasing this product I was I have a reluctant and spending my hard-earned money and justify the cost. Therefore I used some of my Christmas money. No regrets. After owning the product and getting to know how to use it to its full potential I certainly would've spent my hard-earned money. It's a lot of fun. Recommend applications in order to bring the bulbs to life. Be patient and in time they will be absolutely beautiful. The pros outweigh the cons. Frankly there is no cons. I own four bulbs and will be buying a fifth. Five is a perfect amount for what I want to achieve in my living room. Some people need more others need less. Recommend the hue app, on switch and Hue disco. They get used on a daily basis. No buyer remorse!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice but not for everyone I installed these in my basement to help create a theater room. They work well and are fun to play with but are not really practical. They are controlled by an app you down load and requires a direct connection to your wireless router. To really utilize the automation of these lights you have to keep your lite switch "on" all the time. They are easy to install but the app is a little clunky. They work well and have impressive but you are definitely paying for the ability to change the colors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from lights can do more then light up It's more then a light, it can change the mood of any room with easy fast setup. Not only are the lights fun, being a led they will say you money and last longer then old bulbs. Choosing colors and turning them on is the most basic feature! If you don't know what ifttt can do and all the endless possibilities, then let the hue light bulb click on and show you a whole new world! I have the lights in my living room and bar area and never gets old being able to show off for friends or even kids! Plenty bright enough for my large living room, they can paint the walls with light. With ifttt and hue bulbs I can set up weather alerts, social notifications, location based features, sports alerts, and many other types of alerts which can change the color for all type of alerts or just as simple as turning on and off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fourth bulb outlier I like the hue system. Easy to setup. Range tu hub is good. Use it in my music room having 4 r30's for relaxing. Adding fourth bulb to the room / set is straightforward but you have to copy and create new " scenes" because the defaults all use 3 bulbs. Not a big deal. But lately, that fourth bulb (at least I think it is) has now gone rogue and was " lost" by the system. I have re- found it through the software but now it's got another number and is not included in the scenes I created. Haven't trouble shot this fully yet or figured out how to delete the original bulb from my scenes. Added a regular white a10 bulb to the system upstairs after the initial setup. All good for a while but now that bulb is " lost" to the system too. Haven't refound it yet. Didn't expect this much overhead but the effect is nice and I like to tinker anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My eyes have seen the Glory! Great packaging and easy to install. I have already created my own light recipes and they set the mood nicely. Totally helps me relax after work. Make sure to pair the light bulbs close to the hub then after you can place them where you desire. One more thing is that they will buzz if you have a dimmer switch. I was told you should put the switch all the way up to on but i got buzz in that setting. I was able to find a buzz-less area towards the middle top. Soon i will switch the dimmer switch to a basic on/off and control my lights through win relay or the hue tap. Some colors arent really there like the light blue, its basically a white and the light green is a white too. i did find that if you place it in a different place those colors come out a little more depending. I already own 7 hue philips lights and i am purchasing more! i cant wait until they release outdoor landscaping hue !!!!
