I replaced several 40W fluorescent T12 fixtures with these LED T8s. I was concerned that the light output would not be enough, since the T8 LED is rated at 1600 lumens compared to the fluorescent T12s rated at 2600 lumens, but I was surprised to see that I was getting as much light as the 40W tubes I replaced. Also, the light quality is far superior with a much better white color than the green hue common to the fluorescents (see side-by-side comparison photo).
I did go ahead and replace the old T12 ballasts as well to Instant Start T8 ballasts, since my old T12 ballasts would not have worked.

FINALLY, we have a good, affordable T8 Fluorescent bulb replacement. This T8 baby changes your Fluorescent 32 watts, 4100K, 2800 lumens, 21.9 years, to LED 14.5 watts, 4000K, 1600 lumens, 36.5 years (SWEET). For some reason the lumens (1600 vs. 2800) don’t tell the whole story; because the 1600 lumen LED is just as bright as the 2800 lumen Fluorescent (double SWEET). There is a catch though. There are two types of fluorescent electronic ballasts, “Rapid Start” and “Instant Start” (the rectangular thing inside your Fluorescent fixture). These InstantFix LED bulbs require the “Instant Start” ballasts and will not work with the “Rapid Start”. I found this out when I called Phillips to ask “What’s Wrong”. I had “Rapid Start” and had to replace them with “Instant Start”. The “Rapid Start” ballasts I had were also very low quality, so replacing them was a good idea anyway. Replacing them was simple; but the wiring is different; so just Google that. It’s also great not having to worry about breaking the glass Fluorescent bulbs because the InstantFix LED is plastic (triple SWEET). Thank you Phillips!

The light bulbs were a very easy replacement bulb. no ballast removal or wiring needed.

Product worked as described. I replaced over 340 watts of bulbs with less than 120 watts. The lights are actually brighter than what I anticipated they would be!

These are great bulbs in newer fixtures, to use in closets or small areas because they are lower wattage and increase your energy savings. The price is in the mid range for a bulb of this type and represents a good value.
The drawback to these is that these bulbs only work in newer ballasts with T8 energy efficient bulbs. The light they produce is more than adequate. However I found universal bulbs at 17 watts that had the right amount of light and will work in any type of fluorescent fixtures.

Excellent quality product for a great price. These bulbs are brighter than the 34 watt t12's I'm replacing. I'm replacing the ballasts for these bulbs to work.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BobH At last, 4 ft T8 fluorescents, and a great price!
It's great to see these bulbs finally available! They work as advertised, and replacing 32-watt bulbs with 14.5 watt bulbs is a major advance. For the always-on fixtures in a church where I installed these, I figure they should pay for themselves in less than two years, and last for several more.
T8 bulbs have nominally ~2800 lumens, omnidirectional. These Philips bulbs are rated as 1600 lumens, but the light can be directed straight down. I couldn't see any difference in the light output of these versus the 32-watt T8s they were replacing.
