I replaced several 40W fluorescent T12 fixtures with these LED T8s. I was concerned that the light output would not be enough, since the T8 LED is rated at 1600 lumens compared to the fluorescent T12s rated at 2600 lumens, but I was surprised to see that I was getting as much light as the 40W tubes I replaced. Also, the light quality is far superior with a much better white color than the green hue common to the fluorescents (see side-by-side comparison photo).
I did go ahead and replace the old T12 ballasts as well to Instant Start T8 ballasts, since my old T12 ballasts would not have worked.

These bulbs are plug and play and can even be mixed with florescent bulbs in the same fixture.

Was a little skeptical as to if these would actually be bright and work without a hitch in a T8 fixture. I was very pleasantly surprised, they are bright, white and went in and worked as advertised, no problem. Will never settle fluorescent tubes again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BobH At last, 4 ft T8 fluorescents, and a great price!
It's great to see these bulbs finally available! They work as advertised, and replacing 32-watt bulbs with 14.5 watt bulbs is a major advance. For the always-on fixtures in a church where I installed these, I figure they should pay for themselves in less than two years, and last for several more.
T8 bulbs have nominally ~2800 lumens, omnidirectional. These Philips bulbs are rated as 1600 lumens, but the light can be directed straight down. I couldn't see any difference in the light output of these versus the 32-watt T8s they were replacing.

These are great bulbs in newer fixtures, to use in closets or small areas because they are lower wattage and increase your energy savings. The price is in the mid range for a bulb of this type and represents a good value.
The drawback to these is that these bulbs only work in newer ballasts with T8 energy efficient bulbs. The light they produce is more than adequate. However I found universal bulbs at 17 watts that had the right amount of light and will work in any type of fluorescent fixtures.
