Questions & Answers

Using this Piggy Back Float Switch How much water will trigger this switch to start my utility pump?

It will be laying on the shower floor in my basement. When it rains hard the street floods and the water backups up in my shower through the floor drain.
Asked by: mamsr
You can adjust the water level somewhat by how low you attach the float to the pump cable. I've got mine set to about six inches.

Customer Reviews

Piggy Back Float Switch is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from used in reverse these switches are normally used to drain a well. As the water rises, the switch rises and kicks on the pump. we needed the switch to shut our pump off when the cister was full. we took the wire from the switch, layed it on the side of the float and put tie wraps around the float to hold the wire in place. the switch is now up-side-down and works in reverse. a good way to shut the pump off when the tank is full. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good Needed a replacement float switch this was the best price I found. The float was easy to hook up and after 6 weeks of use it seems to be working fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works, simple but effective I combined this switch with a utility pump to recycle water from my washer to the grass in the back yard. The washer drains into a large plastic trash can and when the water level rises, the pump sends it out through a hose to the back yard. The water bill is lower, the grass is greener and. I'm saving every driop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD VALUE THIS PRODUCT PERFORMS AS ADVERTISED, MY ONLY ISSUE WAS THE LACK OF A MOUNTING BRACKET, OTHERWISE VERY GOOD, AND IS PRICED MUCH LESS THAN OTHER UNITS.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The product does not compare to similar products. Sliding switch inside the float does not repeat accurately. Other tether floats I have used have a liquid type switch and are very accurate every cycle. Because of the sliding switch the trip of the switch is erratic. It works fine if you are not concerned with fluctuating level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like it should This device has saved my tilapia several times by shutting off the pump before tank level gets too low

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This switch works great in my water catchment system. The switch allows me to pump a lot more water than the switch on the pu Great product and very tough in my environment. I am using the switch in a sump that catches rain run off and I must pump this water up to a holding tank.
