Can these be used in woodstove stove pipes? Will the soot that drops down clog the stove pipe if there's an 45 degree elbow in it?
Asked by: DC
Yes it can be used in wood stove metal pipes. You might need to run a pipe brush through the 45 degree area to remove the soot buildup as this product uses gravity to do it's job.

How soon after using this can you have another fire in your fireplace?

As soon as you want. You might want to clean the firebox before you start your next fire.

4 lb. Creosote Buster Fire Wax Log Box is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from seemed to work well We had a wood burning fireplace unit installed when we bought our house since the house is all electric and being in the country we sometimes have power outages. We burn the fireplace frequently in the fall it warms the house and we can avoid using the electric baseboard heaters. This log seemed to work well, although with other ones we would see flakes of creasote in the heart after burning the log, this time we did not, so we are assuming that this log gets hotter since you put it on an already existing fire and that the creasote burns hot enough to go up in smoke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well This is the second time I've cleaned my chimney with a fire log and the first time using his brand. It's a smaller log than the other but it did as good of a job. Creosote Buster is easy to light and the product burned until finished. You can tell it's working if you see soot drop down but that's also depending on how often you complete this process. I have only cleaned mine twice in 20 years but my fireplace is only used about 5 times a year. It's recommended more often, especially if you use yours more frequently. I feel better about entering the season with a clean fireplace but no one knows for sure without a professional actually doing an inspection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One and done I've been using some kind of creosote product for several years now and this is the best so far. It's just a big fire log and burns all by itself. No need to get a big fire going and then dumping in a box or cylinder of granules. No burning plastic. It just burns and is gone. Plus, instead of once a week use it's once every 40 fires! Much easier and longer lasting. I'm very happy with the use interval and ease of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product This product is designed to loosen the creosote build up within the chimney of your fireplace to assist in preventing chimney fires from the combustion of that build up. All you have to do is place the log in the center of your firebox and light it. Allow it to burn and it will do its job. The chemicals loosen the creosote so that it will fall down into the box. I have a metal chimney and firebrick box. It worked really well. Also broke loose the build up on the back bricks as well. I can't say as to how good it works on brick and mortar chimneys these may need one or more logs or perhaps professional work if build up is to thick.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheaper than a sweep, but you should do that too! I've used Pine Mountain's 4lb. creosote buster fire wax logs a few times since we don't use the fireplace often enough to justify a chimney sweeping each year. This "wax" log contains no wax even though the word wax is in the name (huh?). The log is made of all natural ingredients and claims to reduce creosote buildup in fireplaces, wood stoves, and pellet stoves. It's easy enough to use - once your fire is rolling along nicely, just toss the log on top and let it burn. I do question how effectively this product works given the manufacturer recommends cleaning the chimney at least once a year, but they may need to say that to protect themselves. I suspect these logs do have an impact (even if minimal) and it's a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flue Cleaner I didn't think I would use this till December, But it got so cold we decided to use the wood stove so we burned the creosote buster and did seem to notice a slight better flow of air going up the chimney. I know it is hard to see a big change but it nice to know that we may be able to wait on having to sweep the chimney till next spring. It was easy to use, just light it and let it burn. We did notice less smoke in the firebox also. So we had a better draft quicker than usual.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product I tried this today since it was a chilly morning. I got a good hot fire going than tossed this log in. Do not remove the paper. It burned completely in about 45 minutes. Some people mentioned an odor, but I could detect no odor whatsoever. So far, I can't really tell any difference yet, but the cleaning action continues for the next several fires. I will start to use these on a regular basis, I consider t cheap insurance. Good product, I would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! This Creosote Buster cleans out the chimney extremely well. We used it in our fireplace this fall before cleaning it prior to the start of winter. We did not even need to lean the chimney out afterwards (although we did just to make sure that all was clean). It took out almost all of the deposits that had built up over last winter and spring. We just bought a second log to use towards the end of our coming winter/spring season.
