Extreme Start Wrapped Fire Starter (12-Pack) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and Versatile Compact and versatile. These small put powerful starter sticks can be used indoor and outdoor. The starter stick can be used to start your grill. Place it on the grill and pile your charcoal around and on top. In the fireplace put two to three split pieces of wood down first. On top or between these pieces place one or two fire starter sticks and light. Great for camping due to their compact size. One fire sticks fits in the palm of your hand. Secured wrappers keep them dry and ready for use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fire Starter We have tried competing products and have never been satisfied. These work great! If the wood is a bit damp, just build a tepee of twigs over the product before lighting. It has started in brisk winds using lakefront driftwood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grown up Boy Scouts Cheat As a former boy scout I don't feel bad about using these at all. Quick fire 12 times without kindling, bellows or other work? That's worth my $6 - especially in the city where getting kindling is work. Use it to light your chimney, firepit or grill - no worries. Here are my quick pros and cons Pros: 1.) Starts a fire even with wet wood 2.) Long lasting so you really only need one 3.) Works for wood or charcoal (if you lost your chimney) Con: 1.) I hate to say it, but they start too easily. Keep them far away from your fire and leave them in a good box. I keep mine in a metal ammo box I bought at costco.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work really well! These little fire starters are just perfect for the fireplace, grill, or fire pit. No need for liquid accelerants. Simply put one of these in the center of your wood pile and light with a match. This starter burns fast and hot and can start the biggest of fires with no problem. The box comes with a generous amount of starters and because they are small, they take up a minimum of space and can be placed on the corner of the mantle out of the way. I've used them to start a fire in my fireplace as well as a charcoal fire in my grill. They work well in both purposes. I would highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, Reliable, and Versatile The Extreme Starter has a number of features I like: 1) It can be used for starting wood fires or charcoal, hence it's versatile 2) It burns for about 15 to 20 minutes which is more than adequate for starting even damp firewood making it reliable 3) It eliminates the guessing of how much charcoal lighter fluid is needed for starting, again making it reliable 4) It's compact (approx 6" X 1-1/2" X 1") and lightweight so it's easily transported for hiking, camping, tailgating, etc 5) It's a safer alternative to fluid lighters and can be used both indoors & outdoors 6) Friendlier than fluid lighters in that it's made from paraffin, sawdust, & crushed walnut shells I would recommend this product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Starts the fire, but not exciting After reading the package I thought this might flare up pretty fast, but it came alive slowly and was not really fun to watch. That disappointment aside, it did a good job of getting the kindling going in my fire pit in very short order. These starters are pretty small, about the size of a candy bar, and no unwrapping is needed before you light it. I put it in the center of the fire pit with some twigs under it and over it and with one-inch kindling on top. In five mites I was adding some bigger pieces and in ten minutes we were enjoying a nice flame on a brisk evening.
