Answer:
Hi Juduts, This is a wood pellet burning grill. It's fueled by hardwood BBQ pellets and the digital control board automatically feeds pellets to maintain temperature. Cooking with pellets allows you to grill, smoke, bake, roast, sear or braise with natural wood flavor. And using different blends of wood types will give unique flavors.

Answer:
Hi Tim, the hopper on this unit holds approx 19 lbs of pellets. The Pit Boss burn system consumes about 4.5lbs per hour on high vs 1.5lbs per hour at its lowest setting.
The 820 has porcelain coated steel cooking grids.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Set it, and forget it barbecuing! First, let's call it what it is: a wood fired, thermostatically controlled, convection oven. It is NOT a grill. Put a pork shoulder on, set the temperature to 250 degrees, come back 12 hours later, it's done. The smoker is very well made. Assembly instructions and parts layout are excellent. The more I use it the more enjoyable it is to use. A couple of lessens learned: It's a smoker at temperatures <250 degrees. Above that it's a wood-fired oven. Cooking chicken at 350 degrees does not provide for a significantly smoked product, it's oven baked. Laying a large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil on the grease tray keeps it clean. It does go through a lot of fuel (wood pellets); particularly at higher temperatures. Great product. Fun to use. Phenomenal barbecue! August 21, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Okay unit Not a bad product, but a GMG is so much better in quality and features for the same price. October 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Grill, Great Price Great Grill, even better price and your food taste fantastic. The nice part with this smoker you can set the temp and step away and not worry about it going out like a coal smoker. September 24, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pellet grill Grill was easy to put together put it together by myself. Only used it a few times and i am just getting use to it after years of using charchoal grills and smokers. Has tons of room for everything i have used it for. It is taking some getting use to but so far so good June 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My Husband Is Obsessed. When we received it he could not wait to put it together, which was fairly easy to do. He went through the start up procedures and began cooking on it right away. He wants to cook on it every night, which is just fine with his wife. Overall this is a great Pellet Grill. I would highly recommend this. July 21, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not As Advertised Works very well but don't buy the 820 sq in rating. They don't provide enough grating to cover the bottom rack area so you only get 340 sq in grill racks for the bottom, not the 540 as stated. May 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely Dissapointed I purchased this item about a week ago. I fired it up and it will not go past 410 degrees. I let it sit there warming up for over 45 mins and temperature started to drop. I'm very disappointed and im hoping i can return this item. It is definitely not worth my $600. May 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT GRILL! I have had this grill for several months now. I smoked a turkey on Thanksgiving, a brisket for Christmas Day, and many evening meals. It works great, everything I had hoped it wood be. There are much more expensive pellet grills on the market but save your money, this one is just as good, maybe even better. I would recommend this smoker, grill, convection oven, whatever you want to call it to a friend or family member.I love it ! March 29, 2015
