Customer Questions & Answers

is this solid glass block window waterproof?

If I use this window in a wall I am building in the wall of my shower, is it waterproof?
Asked by: summerdays
This window is ok to use in a shower. It will need to be attached at all four sides to structural framing with a complete seal around the perimeter.

can i use these glass blocks in a shower wall? If so, are they a "clear" color with grout?

Asked by: summerdaze
A shower wall should be built on site block by block using the Premiere Series (4" thick) glass blocks with either the ProVantage II or the Mortar II Installation. the GuardWise windows are clear glass with patterns and adhered together with Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Sealant (silicone)

Can two windows be installed side by side to make it appears as one large window

Asked by: Square
To install two windows side by side, we recommend applying two beads of Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Sealant along the one window, insert a Thinline Track Spacer (item number 120610), apply two beads of sealant along the spacer and then the second window. Allow the sealant to cure for 24 hours and then apply a bead of sealant along the joint on the interior and exterior of the window.

36.75 in. x 21.5 in. x 3 in. GuardWise Decora Pattern Solid Glass Block Window is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glass Block This was an excellent buy for our remodeling of a bathroom. Ordered online and received within a week, plus they had free shipping. Great construction and good directions on how to install. They should have mention to use their premiere mortar spacers to get the proper fit without error. But all and all this was a great investment. Looks great in the bathroom. Ready to use again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks Good The window looks good, but it's bowed in the middle. The window deviates 3/8" from the middle to sides. The window specifications are incorrect in the description. I called the manufacturer before I framed the opening and he confirmed 46.5 x 35.5 assembled dimensions, but when the window arrived, it was 46.5 X 34.5. I had to modify the sill and weatherproof again. Between the bow and wrong advertised dimensions, window was more difficult to install than it should have been.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Other than price this product met or exceeded all expectations. Beautiful window! Had it installed in our bathroom. Let's in tons of light and will not rot like the window I replaced. Contractor had no issues installing. I ordered 2 more windows from a different company because of a vent feature that this one did not have. They were cheaper but my contractor said they were not as good quality because of the type and amount of silicon used. You get what you pay for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fell apart due to poor construction I was really excited to receive this already assembled, until I received it. I had already built 7 glass block windows for my basement, so I have a good idea of strong, quality construction. This window fell apart at the silicone seams when I opened the box. Yes, it was shipped; however, it had no spacers between the blocks only a slight amount of silicon. I accidentally dropped a well constructed glass block window from a basement window to the basement CONCRETE floor, it didn't break.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from product as explained window came as stated and installation was a breeze, quality was tops. appearance after install was better than I had hoped for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great window and free shipping Replaced all 4 of our basement windows with these (2 vented and 2 non-vented). All arrived within 3 or 4 days of ordering them online and in perfect condition. The packaging was excellent, all were marked fragile and glass. UPS did a great job of getting them here undamaged. The price was great and the difference between buying the blocks and assembling them myself or buying these preassembled was not worth the time or hassle to me. There was some variation in the joint thickness as mentioned in other reviews but it was minor and the windows fit well. They seem well constructed and were made in the USA. We have a cement block basement and the existing windows has a 4 inch mortar "sill" . When removing the old windows I also removed the old "sill" and was able to fit 16 inch windows in the 2 block tall opening. The larger windows allow much more light in now. The new windows seem much more secure and weather tight than the 30 year old windows they replaced. All in all we are very happy with the purchase, how the shipping went, and with the value for the money. It was also one of the best "bang for the buck" home repair/improvement we've done in a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent window This window takes all the headaches out of the project, once the old window frame is removed I installed it with silicone. My install was time extensive as the old window frame was embedded in concrete on 4 corners but it still only took 4 hours. Insulating value was greatly incresed over the old window I do recommend to use a good quality silicone with a short drying time if you decide to mount it this way. You will be installing it with a good sealant depth to seal out the weather and to create a strong bond for security purposes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product arrived without flaws The product was well packed and strapped to a wooden base (pallet) Rough opening was well prepared with proper dimensions and Installation was not difficult. The product may be a bit too heavy for some. It provided the light as well as privacy. Completely satisfied with product and the results.
