Customer Questions & Answers

Mortar or ProVantage for use on exterior basement walls in wet area?

I am replacing a basement window that leaks due to it being in an area where water pools against the window when it rains. Can I use the ProVantage system or is it better to use mortar? (If mortar is better, which is the better system in this situation, Mortar I or Mortar II?)
Asked by: DIYer
Either system will work as well as the other. You will want to be sure you have a complete seal between the joints and around the perimeter. Neither system is guaranteed to keep water from eventually seeping through the joints. Prolonged water against the window will eventually seep through. Adequate drainage should be created below the window to allow the water to drain from the window well.
