Answer:
Yes. 1/2 inch Glass drillbit was all we could find you may be able to find bigger but it will take a while to drill it (20 to 30 minutes per hole) and then you'll have to rinse out the inside with water but be careful not to use cold water on hot glass it will break.

Answer:
Yes, Use a diamond core bit. I used an 5/8" diameter. Create a small circular dam of plumbers putty & apply it to the glass block. Use a small cup of water & fill the dam with the water.
The water keeps the bit from overheating.
I used a drill press, but you could use a hand held drill, but drill slowly. It takes about 5 minutes per hole applying light pressure to the drill bit.

I used a drill press, but you could use a hand held drill, but drill slowly. It takes about 5 minutes per hole applying light pressure to the drill bit.
Just as the bit cuts through the glass block, you'll hear the vacuum of air escape the block.
It can be startling the first time you do it

Answer:
Yes you can drill a hole to put lights in them. Drill very careful with dimond bit and be sure to use some kind of coolent - water will work. or they could break. You have to clean the glass dust out and the bet way is with water. Then you can dry more quickly by putting into a 275 degree oven until dry. Hope this helps youl Barb

Yes, you just need a diamond glass drill bit. I got mine on EBAY $9. Make sure you drill under water or it will shatter.

Answer:
It is not recommended to cut or drill glass blocks. During manufacturing, there is a slight vacuum built up inside the block and they have a tendency to implode if cut or drilled. There is a DecoBloc available with a 1-1/4 x 4-1/4" hole in one end for crafts.

Answer:
You could purchase a GuardWise window through The Home Depot in nominal sizes between 12x18" and 40x48" (actual sizes will be slightly smaller) in 2 inch increments. To install thesw windows, you will need a type S mortar for the sides and bottom, expansion material and caulk for the top joint.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 47 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great look. Great value. these are excellent quality blocks and look great installed. we didn't know what we were doing, so the job could be better. make sure you use spacers and have a plan before you start. i choose to install with mortar for the old style look, but you might want to consider the plastic system if you want perfect spacing and a more modern look. the mortar method is cheap, but it aint easy. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Glass Blocks, what more can I say? I bought these for a craft project, however have not had an opportunity to use them yet. I am sure they will work out just fine for what I have in mind. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by THINLINE GLASS BLOCKS I ordered these for a home I am building for a client. They were easy to install and the clients were happy with the end result. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Glass Block is a fantastic product, very easy to install. Adds that special look to your home design. Product was easy to install and made the bathroom look fantastic.... March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect choice After reading many reviews about receiving broken blocks, I ordered an extra box. Sure enough, not a single one was broken. Murphies Law. They took the extra box back without any issues. Glass was easy to install, looks pretty, allows in plenty of light with privacy. Excellent price and quality. December 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Three of 10 were broken I purchased a box of these for a craft project, when I picked them up and looked in the "open" box three were broken, the store associate was so helpful. She called customer service to see if we could just order the three replacements and they said NO, I had to return ALL in the box and reorder another box! They were not accommodating at all offered me 10% discount! That's only $4.00 when the blocks break down to $4.00 EACH! I decided to order another box because I need the blocks, I will return the broken ones! Online supervisor Sequence Garner was no help, she's the worst, most online customer service reps are so helpful with broken items and HomeDepot.com's customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Glass Blocks for Craft We bought these for a Christmas craft in which we drilled holes to put lights in. The drill bit dulled after only 14 blocks (we're doing a total of 80) - and it's no cake walk. The quality is great, just a bit challenging for what we wanted to do. November 16, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by One Broke Glad I only needed nine of these. When I received the order one of ten was broken. Have not used them for my craft project yet. Hopefully all will go well and that tenth one will not be needed as an extra. Design of block is pretty and should look good with lights on the inside of them. I would recommend these, but if they do not change the way they are shipped be forewarned about breakage. September 1, 2015
