My calculations disagree with the answer provided by Pittsburg Corning. It appears to me you would have 6 rows of blocks and 9 columns. The bottom 5 rows would have a horizontal spacer on top. Since the spacers are 40" long, you would need 2 of these to make 72". 5 x 2 => 10 horizontal spacers to just do the horizontal spacing, and you would have 5 left-over 8" pieces. If you were to cut more of the 40" Read More

If you were to cut more of the 40" horizontal spacers into 8" pieces to use for vertical spacing, you would need 8 * 48" = 48 8" pieces. You already have 5 of these 8" pieces. To make the remaining 43 8" pieces would require 9 more of the 40" horizontal spacers (since 9 x 40" / 8" = 45). So the total number of 40" horizontal spacers need to do the whole job is 19. To the best of my knowledge the spacers only come in white. Once the glass block wall is built you really do not see the spacers. Since the sealant used to hold the glass blocks in place is not applied to the spacers, it would be possible to paint them. You would just need to be sure the paint used is compatible with the plastic used in the spacers. I do not know what plastic is used, but it appears to Read More

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Provantage system makes building a glass block wall a breeze The complete Provantage system for constructing glass block walls is a great alternative to the traditional use of mortar to set the blocks. The horizontal spacers are part of the system and do a very good job of establishing the correct vertical spacing of each block row. They are easy to use and do the intended job. January 19, 2016
