Product Overview

Place N Go flooring combines the rich colors and textures of luxury vinyl with a built-in interlocking underlayment for super-easy and reliable installation. Place N Go's patented "zipper" interlock ensures that tiles come together easily for a durable and glue-less installation. The 5/16 in. thick body of Place N Go tiles includes a built-in, flexible underlayment structure that allows tiles to be laid directly over uneven and rough subfloors as well as over old-flooring, including grouted ceramic tiles. This eliminates the added expense, time and hassle required to remove old flooring, install a separate underlayment or prep the existing floor. The built-in underlayment also provides superior comfort-under-foot and warmth. Place N Go's interlocking system allows tiles to be easily picked up and reinstalled. Perfect for basement flooring; if you ever get water, simply pick up the tiles, dry the area out and reinstall. You can also take them with you if you move! Place N Go flooring is commonly used in finished basements, laundry rooms, entryways and mudrooms, home gyms and kitchens. Best of all, Place N Go flooring is made from 50% post-consumer materials and is 100% recyclable.

can I place this over old tile that was put down with some kind of mastic and has been flooded inthe past before the problem was fixed in the celler ?
Asked by: john
The "Product Overview" on the Home Depot website states that you can lay these over old flooring. Product installation guidelines state that you should "scrape off old adhesive. Surface does not have to be perfect but do remove large clumps of adhesive." Installation guidelines do not call for moisture testing slab so if your cellar floor is dry to the touch you should be ok. and if there are future floods, you can pull up tiles, dry them and relay. If any questions, call the manufacturer SelecTech 877-738-4537. They are very helpful and knowledgeable about the product.

Do you need to have additional glue

Some peel and sticks do not adhere or will not stay adhered to floor without additional glue
Asked by: MommaG64
No. Manufacturer's specs advise that if you are installing in an area with known water issues, such as kitchen or laundry, that it may be advisable to glue locking joints. Otherwise, it is a glue-less installation.

Can this be placed directly on basement cement floor?

Do I need to add a subfloor? It is a old damp (not wet) basement.
Asked by: cmetz
Yes-- you can install on basement cement floor -- no need for subfloor. Look at Place N' Go's website and you can pull up installation guidelines. I laid mine on top of concrete slab in kitchen with settlement and moisture in slab. No problems.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from drawbacks I got this product because of the appeal of having an interlocking floating floor that did not require much prep of the flooring underneath. I live in a 108 year old house, that shifts, has dips in the floor and also had cracked and gapping asbestos tile that was hidden by carpeting. The vinyl wood grain is awesome. The tiles are heavy and the rubber underneath is hard and dense. This would be perfect for a basement. It is not easy to manage in a room that is not square and requires a lot of work to do the edges. However, laying down the center of the room with whole tiles is very easy. One problem is that the tiles can only interlock in a specific way. You have to have the interlocking edges facing the same way for each tile. So, to tile a small, odd corner in the room, I had to waste material. You cannot readily use the scraps. Unless you have a room in which the edges will be nine inches or less all the way around, you waste tiles. After having the tiles down a few days, the teeth at the edges began to show through. They do not interlock in a tongue and groove fashion. They overlap each other at the edges with one strip of triangular teeth above snapping onto a strip below. Although the vinyl is very thick and it is hard to imagine any bump showing through, the edges of many of my tiles have faint triangle patterns all around the edges now that a week has passed. If it were not for that, I would recommend this product wholeheartedly. As I have seen others mention, in some cases the corners do not go down flat... but that is readily addressed with a flooring hammer. At this point, having done all the work to lay down this flooring, I do not intend to haul it back up and return it. But, I would have selected another product had I known the outcome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great stuff - easy to install - trick to cut Just put this down in a bathroom redo = great floor Tough to cut = use a new blade in utility knive and, with great care, cut the cork top thru as you marked; then cut carefully thru the backing rubber.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for a Basement Installation was trouble free. The product was as good as advertised. Perfect for my home office in the basement. I covered some old nasty sheet vinyl that otherwise would have been a lot of work to remove.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need to take into account the wood grain design and direction of the tiles during installation. The tiles were fairly easy to install using a dead blow hammer and carpenter's square. They seem to scratch easily but not too hard on the feet. Matched the wood grain of the tiles during installation to make the room more aesthetically appealing. No need to make this effort on the stone designs. A couple of tiles had nicks but placed them in the back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great for wet basement. they were for a rental where for lots of reasons we wanted a product we could take up and would also hold up well to your average college student. they laid flat at my house basement but has some issues at the rental with edges not joining flat. I dont reccommend the bamboo for this reason as this is very obvious in places that the joint is not flat. don't imagine that would be the case for the solids. I only got the bamboo because we wanted something light. I want to like the product but they have to work on the joints or maybe it is quality control. I called the company and they said you could use a floor roller on it. got to try that. Anyway, along with the razor knife use a jigsaw for install, it works great.

We placed it over a concrete slab with settlement and moisture issues and it is the perfect solution -- no glue down or moisture testing needed, lock in place, waterproof and has UV protection. It looks like cork, goes very well with my older ranch house, cleans up easily and doesn't show dirt. I had a handyman install it and he had no problems. Have gotten alot of compliments from friends and family and thinking about installing in guest rooms. Great stuff!
