I needed a very large pot to accommodate my 40+ year old Philodendron. This is light enough to still move around and gave ample room for additional root growth.

Great large capacity pot that is lightweight, yet durable for a large mediterranian palm. The thickness should protect the roots for our extream temperatures in Arizona.Time will tell how it holds up. Very pleased with quality for now. Does not look like its plastic at all! DK

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RMonthefarm I now have 4 of these
I first purchased this product over a year ago. I now have 4 of them. At the time, I thought that it was a lot to pay for a polyethylene planter but I have been very pleased with the quality and performance of the product. These barrels definitely do not look like they are made of polyethylene and will not need to be replaced every three to four years.
Recently, the last of my two oak, half-whiskey-barrel planters fell apart. Real oak whiskey barrels look nice and repurposing barrels makes sense but oak whiskey barrels only last a few years. If you don't keep the wooden staves constantly moist, they dry out and the metal hoops fall down. Once this happens, you might get lucky and be able to restore the hoops to their original position with some effort and use self-tapping sheet metal screws to hold the hoops in place. This is usally a temporary fix though. If you've already had these barrels in use for a few seasons, the wood base has probably rotted by now despite your having bored sufficient drainage holes. I've lost track of how many failed oak barrels I've burned as firewood in past winters.
Anyway, when I went to purchase two more of these planters a couple of weeks ago, I found that they were already sold out so I started looking for them or something comparable on the web. What I found is that there are absolutely no other planters of this size and quality in this price range for sale on the Internet and while it is true that these come in a very large box, the entire package weighs very little. I personally find it extremely annoying to have to pay 50-75 dollars to have something which only weighs 20 bs. at most delivered to my home. So, as soon as I saw that they were available once again, I ordered them and opted for free, ship-to-store. Even though my local Home Depot is 60 round trip miles away and my pickup only gets 16 mpg at most, I figure an hour of my time plus 4 gallons of gas beat a 50-75 dollar home delivery charge.
These sell out quickly. My recommendation is to check back often and order as soon as you see that they are available once again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by trendy2 This pot looks great on my lanai with a large Weeping Fig tree in it.
This pot is of good quality and large enough to avoid re-potting very often. Delivery was very timely and the cost reasonable for the large size. I do wish a drain pan was available; perhaps in the future.
