I am installing new gates for a chain link fence. A common problem for gates like these is corrosion on the bottom rail--apparently from moisture that accumulates there and is not exposed to the wind or sun. Would a coat or two of this product on the bottom potion of the rails keep the gates from rusting?
Asked by: jayhawk6
Yes, it should.

Is this a "dip" or a brush-on?

I have a craft application in mind where dipping would be preferred, but not sure about brushing it on.
Asked by: MAM
This particular one is a "dip". They also have a spray. I've seen some use it with a foam brush but not sure about the usefulness of it without wasting too much product & brushes.

Never any problems with it drying up early or being too thick. Long shelf life....but we really don't keep it on the shelf long. :)

Used the Plasti Dip to coat my motorcycle's chrome steel tubular passenger grab handles so passenger would have a better and more comfortable grip. Used a brush to apply several coats, and used blue painter's tape to mask where I wanted the new "rubber" covering to stop. Exceeded my expectations! Passenger loves it. Next, will use it to coat handles of several pair of pliers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flexible and durable I used this stuff to dip my dogs winter running boots in. They held up all winter and didn't peel off the fabric. Made the boots water proof too. Got the idea from a guy I know that dips his socks in this stuff to run in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tip to keep unused product from hardening There's an old painter's trick that can be used with this product. After you've dipped a few tools and you are ready to set it on the shelf for a while, secure the lid (tape it on if you have to) and turn the can upside down. This seals out the air and keeps it from hardening. This works with paint cans as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT.....BUT Started using "Plasti Dip" several years ago. Wonderful product.. >>RELIABILITY - Recommend 2 initial coats (dips) then it has lasted for 7+ years in my case >>EASE OF USE - Dip it / brush it on. Either way, simple to apply and very strong / lasting >> PRICE - Excellent value for good quantity of product BUT.......... >>I found that can after can, once opened, would gel / harden even after being "sealed" with the supplied plastic snap on lid. Tried first applying kitchen cling wrap to can, then the lid. Did no good. After several weeks, signs of solidifying were evident. OTHER THAN THAT, NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL. Makes tool handles easier to grip / more comfortable in the hands / etc. etc. No complaints whatsoever 9except as above)

Easy to use, but the more you use it the less there is in the can and you can't get the same amount covered after each dip. I put three coats on a pair of pliers and that took 1 1/2 hours to complete. Be sure to sit the contents first because it does separate.
