I am installing new gates for a chain link fence. A common problem for gates like these is corrosion on the bottom rail--apparently from moisture that accumulates there and is not exposed to the wind or sun. Would a coat or two of this product on the bottom potion of the rails keep the gates from rusting?
Asked by: jayhawk6
Yes, it should.

Is this a "dip" or a brush-on?

I have a craft application in mind where dipping would be preferred, but not sure about brushing it on.
Asked by: MAM
This particular one is a "dip". They also have a spray. I've seen some use it with a foam brush but not sure about the usefulness of it without wasting too much product & brushes.

Easy to use, but the more you use it the less there is in the can and you can't get the same amount covered after each dip. I put three coats on a pair of pliers and that took 1 1/2 hours to complete. Be sure to sit the contents first because it does separate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from re-insulated wires the rat's chewed on A rat made its home in my car's engine compartment and proceeded to chew on various wires under the hood, severing one wire which caused the car to barely run. After mending a broken wire, I was able to put some insulation on several bare, chewed-up wires, applying Plasti Dip black rubber coating with a Popsicle stick and a barbecue skewer. Then I rounded up a few hand tools and dipped them in Plasti Dip and hung them to dry on a magnetic tool holder. The consistency of the dip is similar to super thick gravy. Make sure the dip is at room temperature or a bit warmer when you use it. I'd recommend using Plasti Dip outdoors and wearing disposable gloves. I was fooled by the yellow picture of pliers on the container, the dip was black in color, and I would have preferred yellow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flexible and durable I used this stuff to dip my dogs winter running boots in. They held up all winter and didn't peel off the fabric. Made the boots water proof too. Got the idea from a guy I know that dips his socks in this stuff to run in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tip to keep unused product from hardening There's an old painter's trick that can be used with this product. After you've dipped a few tools and you are ready to set it on the shelf for a while, secure the lid (tape it on if you have to) and turn the can upside down. This seals out the air and keeps it from hardening. This works with paint cans as well
