Answer: 
A single float is 9" tall and has 500 lbs of buoyancy.The actual height an entire dock section will sit above the water varies based upon the weight of the wood to create the frame and top. For treated wood this height (free board) is typically 9" as measured to the top of the decking.

On a floating dock we recommend leaving a float off of the front of your first dock section so a portion of this section serves as a "gang" plank. This will also allow it to properly function with the seasonal changes in water levels. The pipes on the subsequent sections will anchor the dock and keep it in the same location on your shoreline.
