What do I need for piping to vent outside? Is this an extra cost and charge for the pipes or is it included?

Asked by: Charles
Handyman Hudson Here: you will need Hallowed vent pipe , which has stainless steel interior and galvanied exterior, essentially a tube within a tube, along with wall thimbles to protect the heat of the exhaust pipe from your combustible wall. Fireproof insulation, for the wall thimble, and heat resistant silicone to adjoin all exhaust tube joints.

how often is cleaning necessary?

Several review say easy cleaning. My present stove needs almost a daily cleaning.
Asked by: willyd
It depends on if you are going for optimal or possible. The manufacturer suggest daily clean out. I generally clean fill the 3 bag hopper let it burn for three days and when it runs out I clean it refill the hopper and let it burn for 3 more days. I have gotten up to 6 days of burn without cleaning it mostly just out of laziness. I generally run mine on 2 for auger speed and 4 for blower speed. A bag last 1 day.

I waited a few weeks before writing this review, only because, upon the first few uses, I wasn't too sure I liked the stove. The design and finish are great, and the controls are super easy to use, however, my biggest disappointment with the stove was the fan noise. The first couple of uses, were not quiet AT ALL. The fan sounded like I was hanging off the wing of a 747. We have the stove in our living room and if we were watching TV, 10-15 feet away, the fan noise drowns out the tv volume and made it very frustrating to enjoy our time in the living room. HOWEVER.... I called customer service for the fan noise issue and was told the fan would get quieter after some "break in", at first I thought I was just being pacified, but within the following 10-12 uses the fan did in fact go from turbo jet engine, to the point now where it's barely noticeable. With all the nice attributes of this stoves design and function, I am now extremely happy with our stove. We live in a 2,400 square foot 2 story home and this stove easily heats the entire house. I would highly recommend this stove to anyone that is looking for a well built American Made Pellet stove, that both performs and looks great...and at the price, it truly can not be beat. Trust me, I did the research and this stove far exceeds anything else I found, and does it for a fraction of the price. *On a side note, use the included fresh air kit...it definitely adds to the heat performance of the stove

I repaired and repainted the stove because i could not afford to stay home again for three days because of the misleading shipping information. And i was displeased when is asked for a deduction on the price they said they could me a $150.00 credit. Oh by the way I NEVER GOT. So on that matter i will never order anything online through homedepot again. sincerely unhappy. Dan Lewis.

Cleaning is easy if you do it every day, with a shop vac. I have it for one month. It heats better than the stove of equal Btu that I had for 12 years, it only held 60 pounds. It is a lot quieter when the thermostat is on mead-em or low and still keeps the house conformable.

Plug an play basically except for vent pipe. It does however use a lot of pellets I think about a bag and a half every 24hr not sure if that's standard of not. Over all great product

I had to return a stove that was a smaller model shipped direct to my house from the factory, even though the paperwork AND shipping box had the correct model number. The people at Home Depot were great in working with me to get the correct stove! Okay, I just got the Pleasant Hearth cabinet pellet stove, so all of 3 days burning for this review. So far, it is very good. Put it down in my basement, hooked up the chimney pipe, and turned it on. The hopper will hold just about 3 40 pound bags of pellets, but it will be very full to the top. Instructions are clear and well written. Note: for the initial start when you have to "prime" the feed augur, you turn the knob quickly twice to max to get it running - if it doesn't seem to be doing it correctly according to the instructions, shut off the stove and Unplug it to "reset" it so you can try again. Simple when you figure it out, just make take a couple tries. Cleaning is simple. Puts out heat! I do wish that the description on the website had more detail about what stove piping is needed - I ordered Duravent elbows, pipe, and adapter, but waited until after getting the stove so I would know how much to get. If I remember, maybe I'll try to come back next year to give an experienced review, but right now I am happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent customer care This is my first pellet stove and after almost 3 years I'm still impressed. It easily heats our 1300 square foot home, and loading the big (3 bags) hopper couldn't be easier. It requires a little bit more cleaning than others that I've seen (such as quadrafire), but it is easily done with a burning chamber that splits into two. Our unit had an initial problem that was quickly fixed by the Pleasant Hearth team. This is an American product with an American customer care team which I really appreciate, and I'm Swedish. Installation was a breeze and so is maintenance. Quiet and stylish (I think), safe; I feel comfortable to leave the stove on when I'm away or sleeping, and best of all; environmental.
