Customer Questions & Answers

Does it have to be put together after receiving it? IF so..I'm assuming directions are included..is it hard?

Asked by: Nana
It was a breeze to assemble and took only a few minutes. I used one of my own wrenches to tighten the bolts. Looking at the parts, you could figure out how to put it together without the directions. However, you need the directions just to know where to put the washers on the bottom bolt.

why does it say "outdoor use only"...I plan to put it in my cellar by my woodstove...

Asked by: radbad
I am using it beside my fireplace inside. Looks nice and neat. Plan to use it for a while outside during the summer to dry firewood. Can be used in both situations. Some people have suggested putting it up on bricks while outside to keep it from sinking into the ground.

Does the metal rust easily?

The area that it will be used is outside & the ground stays damp after a big rain.
Asked by: chvycclss
Probably. The one I received had rust "dust" covering a lot of the pieces out of the box. It was missing hardware and the pieces did not fit together anyway, so I decided to cut bait and find something better.

4 ft. Heavy Duty Firewood Rack is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 135.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from PRODUCT EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS I'm extremely happy with the product as it lived up to, and went beyond, the manufacturer's description. Clear, concise, instructions made it very easy to assemble and I'm especially impressed with the heavy duty construction which I was particularly concerned about at the time of my purchase. Overall, I'm completely satisfied with the product and that I was able to pick it up at my local Home Depot at no additional cost.

This is an all metal 4 foot long wood rack that fit perfectly on our porch to keep wood ready to access from the front door. It was easy to assemble, is rugged, and looks good. I bought the cover that fits this rack to help keep the wood dry and also to keep the porch wall clean. I would recommend this product to anyone.

It came well-packaged, with the tubing covered by clear plastic, and all the hardware shrink-wrapped on a card. Everything lined up. No drama. Incidentally, I got it in just a couple of days via free shipping to my store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sadly, parts missing I purchased this online and picked it up at store. The tape was coming off the box and I should have asked them to open it while I was at the store, but didn't. When I opened the box at home to assemble the rack it became clear that the product had been opened before; the wire ties meant to hold the parts together during shipping had been removed, and the packet of nuts, bolts and washers had been opened, and someone had attempted to tape it, but unsuccessfully, because only 2 of the 8 nuts were on the card, another bounced out of the packing material, and 5 nuts were missing altogether. While all of the washers were there, one was defective, cut so that it would just fall off, like a torn gummed reinforcement. I called the number on the assembly instruction booklet for replacement parts and they are supposed to be sending them to me. I was able to assemble the rack successfully with parts from my husband's workbench. Assembly was straightforward, the instructions were easy to follow. It probably would have been easier to do this with another person, but it can be assembled by one person. I am using this to hold wood pellets for our pellet stove, so I decided to use a 4X4X4 across the spreaders to hold the bags better. It worked great...I also purchased the Two Dogs Designs 2D-LR Log Rack Cover and it looks like this will work great -- it just rained and it's all intact!

It's good for my usage, which is simply to store firewood beside the fireplace on a decent-looking rack. It is by no means 4 feet long, more like 44", but it is 4 feet tall measured up to the under side of the tall end posts. It was easy to put together with 2 people working together. We did not use the washers next to the nuts. The bolts were not quite long enough. However we were able to put washers on between the head of the bolts and outer part of the columns. So we used 8 instead of the 16 provided. There were no missing items in our purchase. We've had this for a couple of weeks. Serves our purpose well, so far.

I put it together without any problems or issues. The holes punched for screws seemed to be blocking the holes but it is an easy fix with a screw driver to push it aside. They were not stubborn but it is important not to panic. These punched out metal pieces are like hanging chad. The rack is very sturdy and I like the simple design. I purchased it just a couple of months ago so we will see how this fares over the winter. I have firewood stacked on it already. I like the fact that the airy design allows firewood to stay dry and well ventilated. Base is very sturdy as well. This product definitely met my expectations.

I read the reviews and decided to take my chances, and now I regret wasting my time. Here is a list of all the things wrong with the item I received: 1. The plastic "feet were broken. Not a big issue, but shows low product quality. 2. The hardware packet with nuts and bolts was coming apart and I only realized that some parts were missing after I started doing the actual install. 3. The bolts are too short so that it was impossible to even screw some of the nuts on. I considered flattening the steel tubes with a hammer, but after I noticed that there weren't even enough nuts to complete the job I decided to return this and look for something of better quality.
