Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Fireplace Set I have a Craftsman Bungalow, and the style of this fireplace tool set goes well with the elements of my house, as well as the bronze finish. The set comes with a broom, a shovel, tongs, a poker and a stand to hang the tools on. The stand was easy to put together, and the handles screw onto the tools. The poker doesn't seem as substantial as the wrought iron poker my parents had, and the design of the poker isn't very good for moving the logs around, it doesn't have the double hooks on both sides that are needed for rolling the logs and repositioning them. It has a bent rod attached at a 90 degree angle, which is a little too high and a little too long to really be of any use, but it is workable. Also, I am right handed, and tend to move my wrist in a clock wise direction when repostitioning the logs with the poker, and the handle starts to unscrew, and it is a problem if you try to go the other way while your tending to the fire, the poker doesn't move the other way, because it's loosened up, so the design on the poker is bad. I plan to superglue the threads where the handle is attached to get rid of that problem. I like the set of tongs for grabbing logs and moving them if needed, I would recommend using a set of gloves if you plan to use the tongs for a prolonged period of time, (which is a good idea to have some handy by the fireplace anyway), in case the metal would get too hot when picking up a burning log, or if you have to use them longer than you expect to. The tongs are a nice addition to the set. Overall, it's an o.k. fireplace set. December 12, 2012
