How much firewood does this hold. I have a core of wood.
Asked by: Annie
You have to purchase the 2x4s separately, so it would depend on the length of the 2x4s as to how much wood the brackets will hold.

What size is the bracket opening ? Nominal 2 X 4 (1.5" X 3.5") or an actual 2 X 4 (2" X 4")?

Asked by: Kelley
Barely nominal. The brackets work well but I had to whittle down my pressure treated 2x4s quite a bit.

Does this kit include the 2 pieces? Not one piece for the $27.00?

The plastic one you sell for $14.00 appears to be for one piece so I would be needing to buy 2 pieces. This information is not clear for any of your log holder kits. Many thanks.
Asked by: Logstacker
Yes both metal ends are included in the kit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORKS WELL AND TALL Some of the reviews mentioned the hole not fitting right for a 2x4. well i bought 2x4 treated lumber and it since wood does vary it was a tight fit but that was a good thing, i took a board and hammer it onto the board. so it fit tight. these are 48" tall too, some are shorter.

We had some extra firewood this year and thought this would be a great way to store it as it seasoned. After we use the wood we will collapse it down. Easy to assemble, works great.

As some other reviewers have mentioned, the fit with 2x4s was more than a bit tight. I was using pressure-treated wood 2x4s and I did have to whittle down the last few inches of each end with a hatchet to get even a snug fit, so one should be prepared with a rasp, plane, heavy duty knife or hatchet. But a snug fit is better than a loose one, just anticipate an added 15 minutes and some possible aggravation for installation. The system works.

I bought four sets of these end brackets and eight treated two-by-fours to make four wood racks (1 6-ft long and 3 10-ft long). Assembly was easy, although I had to replace some of the cheap screws included for binding the brackets to the boards because their Philips heads stripped. However, the brackets were sturdy and easily supported full racks of firewood without requiring a rope support across the top. I recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, cheap rack! Easy to put together. We used it with one 8ft. 2x4 cut in half to make a small rack for the deck to keep some wood closer. It's exactly what we needed at a fair price. Would easily hold up with longer 2x4's. Took the advice of other reviewers and didn't get pressure treated boards. We didn't need them anyway since it's up on a covered deck. Great purchase.

A well built set of 'ends' for use with 2X4 lumber to make a tailored length fire wood rake. A couple of nice features is that you can use multiple sets to form dividers along the length. If used with heavy logs, this allows additional support as well as allowing user specified sections for different sized wood (kindling, small branches, logs, etc.). The only drawback (keeping it from being a 5 star rating) is that the square sleeves are designed to accommodate DRIED 2X4 lumber and are not large enough for pressure treated wood (needed for good outdoor performance) which holds excess water. If immediate use is required, height and/or width may have to be trimmed to fit in the brackets. Otherwise, pre-buy the PT lumber and allow it to dry and shrink before assembly. If trimming the lumber for immediate use, beware that when the lumber dries, the fit will suffer and the brackets may have the slop to bow out from the ends with the weight of the logs.

Fits perfectly in the space in my garage. I used 8' pressure treated 2x4s as the base. They were a little hard to get into the slots but a block of wood and a rubber mallet did the trick. I had no need for the screws with it being so tight.

The steel used is a bit light and the brackets are painted rather than powder coated. The pockets for the 2x4 is a tight fit, but that could be the green treat lumber. For the price and the intended purpose, they are a good choice.
