I did a lot of research online before choosing these simple doors from Home Depot. They look beautiful in our fireplace, and I like the magnetic double doors. We had to hire someone to install them because we thought we'd have to drill into the brick, but it only took an hour & the handyman didn't have to drill into it. We originally wanted doors to block dust from the top of the chimney (there were holes in it i the attic) & were told by the handyman that the doors wouldn't block too much dust. But at least we can have a way to block the fire from our two year old.

I just installed my medium sized Alpine fireplace doors that I purchased online from Home Depot. I was very pleased with the quality and ease of installation. I felt the instructions were very clear. My only complaint was that there is a warning not to close the glass doors while a fire is burning because the temp. may exceed the glass rating. I wish I would have seen this before purchasing. My old doors had thick tempered glass and closing them with a fire burning was not a problem. I'll learn to live with it because I like the new doors and the price was right.

These doors were very simple to put together and install (once you convince your significant other that you actually read the instructions and know which screws go where!) And there is a youtube video that shows how to install for those folks who need the visual.
We did add some fiberglass insulation of our own to the frame, as what was included was very minimal; but since it was something we had laying around anyway, no problem.
I was a bit concerned about drafting with the door, because our old bi-folds had dampers built into the bottom of the frame and this has none. Apparently it is designed to be burned only with the glass doors open unless the fire is at a smolder. We find that there is plenty of airflow, even with the doors shut, to keep the fire burning efficiently. Our fire-grate and andirons keep the logs and fire center well back from the doors, so we are not overly concerned with the issue of glass doors changing temperature quickly and shattering. If they do, we'll just have them replaced with woodstove glass from a local glass shop. The fire burns longer and more efficiently with the glass doors shut.
All taken together, this is a beautiful product, fits perfectly and the glass is SO much easier to clean than our old bi-fold doors! The big surface of the glass, without all the bi-fold framing makes for a great view of the fire.

This fireplace door was better looking than what I had expected. It fit our fireplace opening nicely and the installation didn't require drilling holes into the masonry.
Our fireplace lintel (piece of steel holding top row of bricks in place) wasn't the ideal size the for brackets that come with the door to secure it, but I was still able to use them.
The door isn't that heavy, however, I needed my wife to hold it flush against the fireplace opening while I secured it. Also, the door handles are packaged individually and are heavier than they look. I only mention this because I dropped one as I walked through my kitchen with it, luckily it didn't break a tile.
