Will these fireplace doors work with our field stone hearth?

We would fill the gaps between the field stone with concrete to create a flat surface for the doors frame to lay against once installed. The inside of the fireplace is brick with an iron lintel. We would purchase a large since the fireplace is 37" wide and 32.5" tall. See picture. Thank you.

An option to seal the surround is rock wool, the material used for glowing embers in vented gas logs. The wool can be placed between the stone and the metal frame to fill gaps. This might be easier than cement, and the color is similar.

Hi okkids,
Thanks for visiting our site.
According to the measurements of your fireplace opening, the small Easton Fireplace Doors will fit best. The small set has measurements of 30'' tall and 37'' wide which will sufficiently extend over the opening of your fireplace.
Be sure to read and heed the manufacturer's safety warning:
"Never close the Fireplace Glass Doors while a fire is burning in the fireplace!
This Fireplace Glass Door is intended for installation on a masonry fireplace only.
Do not use this glass door on a pre-fabricated fireplace.
To determine the type of fireplace:
A. Masonry Fireplaces are constructed of brick and mortar with a brick chimney.
B. Pre-fabricated Fireplaces have a metal firebox and a sheet metal duct chimney.
A Pre-fabricated Fireplace, also called a Zero Clearance Fireplace, will require a different type of Glass Door. Keep in mind that while Fireplace Glass Doors appear interchangeable, they are not! If your fireplace is a factory built pre-fab, Do not use this firescreen. Check the make and model number of your pre-fab fireplace and consult your dealer for the appropriate Fireplace Glass Door."
Thank you for asking,

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive Fireplace Doors Replace old Screen It took 42 years, but we finally replaced the folding screen in front of our fireplace. The Easton style fireplace doors we selected arrived promptly, were easily and quickly installed, and look good in our family room. Watching a young woman install one on YouTube convinced us we could do the installation ourselves and we were right. Very happy with our purchase. We posted a picture of it on Facebook, and we have received many compliments on the fire doors. We recommend this product. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fireplace doors Great doors. Fit my fireplace perfectly. Really like the doors that swing out. August 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very sleek look Love the glass doors. Arrived in perfect shape and on time. Installed and works as we expected. The individual doors swing out past my hearth but that's not a problem. They each measure 24" tall x 18" wide. I think we will replace the handles with some brushed nickel ones to add a pop of color. So glad I chose these over the trifold ones. The price was very reasonable. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the look, great door, but some things to consider Doors are really nice, seem very sturdy, magnets on the door catches are strong and overall a quality product. I've very please with the end result, but because of some issues I was unaware of in my fireplace I was unaware off, install was more than a bit tricky. They don't do a great job in the product description explaining that the door has to rest on a flat surface, and cannot be used on a raised fireplace. This would have been important since the firebox in my brick fireplace does not rest flat on the ground, and has no heart. It's raised up about 4 inches or so with a row of brick below the opening. This made installation very tricky, we had to go with an oversized door, and find a way to build up the bottom. (Note: you can buy an add on out there from specialist fireplace outlets that you attach with concrete anchor into the bottom of the firebox, it gives you a 5/8 inch lip to rest the door on, but I wasn't about to pay another $100 bucks for that.) We ended up grabbing a piece of 1 inch steel tubing, and cutting it to the size of the door. Adding that underneath, along with the riser bar, gave just enough clearing to cover the opening and everything worked out great. None of this has anything to do with the product, except to say it would have been nice if the descriptions explained a bit better than it could not be used out of the box on a raised firebox. That being said, if you have a hearth, or your firebox is not raised (sits flush with the ground), I'd recommend the product. It looks great (see picture.) I would also recommend picking up extra insulation, as other reviews mentioned, the small strips they give you is just not adequate. Luckily a roll of fiber glass insulation (buy the "small projects" roll) isn't too expensive. February 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Highly recommend! I bought this screen right before Thanksgiving. It arrived quickly! With a few minor modifcations to fit my fireplace, the installation was done in less than 2 hours. It looks gorgeous! I could not be more pleased! I even gave my parents Christmas cash toward a new screen for their house. They got the Fillmore, and are quite pleased. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the paint was chipped off the corners of the inside screen doors. It is something that only shows if the glass doors are open, and I will pick up some paint to touch it up someday. My only advice is to find someone who has installed these before, or someone is savvy with making modifcations for installation purposes. December 15, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by gorgeous doors- but specs are wrong! we followed the measurement instructions and ordered a large because our mason fireplace measurements fit within the ranges provided. unfortunately - the doors are still too small. the sides of the doors - that extend beyond the fireplace opening - are too narrow, so the insalation inside the doors is not flat against brick, but instead would be exposed to the open flame of the fireplace. We are just starting to deal with customer service now, but will be VERY upset if we have to pay a restocking fee because this was not our fault. February 9, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Product / Easy Installation Just finished installing the new doors. Pretty simple installation, considering my fireplace has deteriorated a little bit over the years. Seems like a very high quality product - will actually use it in the next couple days. Very happy with the style. March 17, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Looking Upgrade Great looking, sharp, and modern. Looks good with most decors. If you're looking to upgrade an older fireplace door unit, don't expect it to just "pop in" to place. We had to drill into the metal support above the unit to make it work. But, the instructions outlined this possibility! Overall it's a slightly expensive but wonderful addition to a room. February 4, 2014
