Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sublime Solid, quiet, but expensive for finish level
Overall, this is a really solid piece. It operates very quietly and all the materials look high quality. It is about 4x more expensive than your average dog door, so you kind of expect that.
Give the high price, some things were lacking.
1) The frame pieces that mount on the outside look cheap. For this price, I'd expect a single piece from with hidden fasteners.
2) The cutout is not a simple box, but requires some tabs to be cut out.
3) I don't see the point of the lock being a keyed lock. It's on the inside, just make it a knob. The keys are also finicky to get into the lock and you can't leave them in, if you want the lock to stay open.
Again, it's a great dog door and if it was $100, I'd have no complaints. Given its "luxury" price though, it's lacking in the finish department.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Level7Sensei High Quality Dog Door - Got what I paid for
My last dog door also had a hard flap, but only lasted about two years. It had the common hinge at the top instead of at the sides like this model. Besides being a substantially better design, this new dog door is truly premium quality. Some benefits of this design are:
-Quiet operation. No longer do I hear "clunks" throughout the night.
-Excellent weather seal. Hard flaps so no deformation will occur. "Whisker" ridge seal around each door keeps outside temperatures, well, outside.
-Minimal maintenance. Only annual greasing of the internal (hidden) hinge components to ensure continued proper closing and quiet operation.
-Costly. One of the more expensive dog doors, but my kitchen is now comfortable like the rest of my house due to keeping the cold and heat outside where it belongs.
-"Vacation" mode. Most other dog doors have a simple slide-to-insert cover that completely blocks the door with reasonable good security. While the doors can be locked with a key, they would be fairly easy to break through. The door did come with a metal cover for extended use, but it requires a screwdriver to install making for impracticle use on a regular basis.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DJohnson101 Great price for what I was looking for.
My dog loves the freedom she now has! I love that there is no need to buy replacement flaps! I've own several pet doors and my dog has chewed all of them to pieces.
